I woke up, around the normal time I always wake up at which is 6:30 am, I woke up feeling Prim cuddled up to me sleeping deeply. I went downstairs to find my mother cooking eggs in a pan
"Where did you find those?" I asked my mother
"Peeta's mother gave them to me, she is a kind lady." My mother replied.
"Oh I see" I say walking over to the bathroom
"You should take a bath Katniss, we finally have water" my mother says yelling over her shoulder.
I didn't reply I just kept walking to the bathroom.
"Love you Katniss!" My mom said back trying to get me to respond
"Love you too" I whisper
I decided maybe my mother was right, I should take a bath, I look terrible. I look like I just got electrocuted.
I took off my clothes and went for a bath.
It was very cold water, I mean what is new. I had goosebumps because it was so cold.
I finally got done my bath and put a fresh pair of clothes on. I put on a gray shirt and long black slacks.
I put my hair in a braid, the way I normally have my hair.
I walked out to smell the scent of fresh eggs, I haven't smelt that scent for a while, almost forgot what that smelt like.
I walked back to the bedroom to get a necklace that my father gave me which I put pictures of my mom, prim, Gale and Peeta of inside.
As I got to the bedroom and was putting on my necklace I heard Prim shaking in fear.
I panicked and looked behind me, she was having a nightmare. I walked over to the bed and sat down on the bed, I shook Prim lightly and Prim woke up screaming.
"Hey hey, shhh you are okay" I said to Prim quietly
"Katniss I had that dream again" she said shaking and crying
I hugged her, I know what she dreamed about, she had this nightmare before, it's about dad and the Avalanche.
"Shh little duck, you are okay." I say comforting Prim.
"Katniss, will that happen to me?" She asked me
I shook my head "of course not, not under my protection!" I said
Prim smiled
"Go back to sleep" I say lightly
"I can't" she says back
"Do you want to sing the valley song?" I asked smiling
The valley song is a song my father used to sing to us when we were younger.
Prim nodded and we started to sing
"Deep in the meadow, under the willow, a bed of grass, a soft green pillow, lay down your head"
Prim smiles at me and I smile back
"I love you Prim" I say and I kiss her on the forhead
"I love you too" prim says back
I get up and walk back downstairs to the kitchen
I look at Prim's cat Butterscotch, he hates me I hate him.
He hisses at me
"I can still cook you, you know." I say grabbing my coat
"Where are you going! We are having egg, your favourite!" My mother said
"I will be back in a couple hours, I don't need to eat, give mine to Prim if she is still hungry after hers" I say and I w put on my boots
"Okay but can-" my mother says but I slam the door shut as I walk out
I walked over to Peeta's bakery and walked in the bakery
"Hi Mrs. Mellark, is Peeta home?" I asked politely and smiled.
"Yes he is!" She said smiling
"PEETA!" She yelled up the stairs
Peeta came walking down the stairs.
I smiled as he walked up to me
"Hi" I say to him
"Hi" he says back
I walk back to the house part of the bakery with him as he walks over to the round mirror in the living room and fixes his hair.
"You think they will except us? 2 under weight district 12 no fed fools" Peeta says laughing
"Ha, they better" I said smiling
Peeta walked over to me and handed me some pieces of bread
"Peeta, please you take them you can't keep giving me bread! Your mom will hate you" I say smiling and I shake my head and hand the bread back over
"No please take it" Peeta says handing it back.
I sigh and shake my head and put it in my knapsack.
"Well Peeta Mellark, shall we go?" I say laughing
"Yes Katniss Everdeen" he smiles and grabs my hand, I blush
We walk out to the bakery and Mrs. Mellark has a tray of fresh muffins.
"Here guys, for your journey" says Mrs Mellark
Peeta quickly let's go of my hand because he doesn't want his mom to see him, I smile
"Thank you Mrs. Mellark, this is very kind of you, but I am not hungry ma'am" I say
"Take one for Primrose my darling!" Mrs Mellark says as well and I take one and I put it in my knapsack.
"Thanks Mother" Peeta says and takes a muffin
"Have fun guys" she says as we walk out of the bakery
I laugh and Peeta hands over his muffin
"Here, you can have this one" Peeta says smiling
"Peeta-" I say but he cuts me off
"No buts, here you haven't eaten breakfast" he says and I sigh again and take the muffin.
"Why do you need to be a pain in my ass" I say and laugh
He smiles
"I've always been a pain in your ass" he says and smiles.
I was smiling but then I frowned
He looked over at me
"What are you think about? Come on Katniss you can tell me anything" he says as we are walking down the stone path down near the Forrest.
I shrug my shoulders "A lot of stuff." I say and I gulp
"Like what?" He asked
"Dad, Gale, the Capitol coming and killing us all." I say getting mad as we walk into the Forrest
"Hey listen it's okay Katniss, they aren't going to come-" he says as I cut him off
"What if they do? Who do they kill? Exactly, they kill everyone in district 12. He isn't afraid to do it Peeta" I say getting really pissed off and then I start getting upset
"Hey-" Peeta says and he stops me from walking.
"Katniss, if they do attack we know how to fight and you know how to shoot really well" Peeta says grabbing my arm, he lightly rubs it. I shook my head and closed my eyes
"Yeah Peeta I know how to shoot, I shoot birds and deer not people" I say looking into Peeta's eyes almost into tears but I am bitting my tongue trying to stop them.
"Katn-" Peeta tries to say but I'm already hugging him.
He hugs me back and I hug him tighter.
"I'm sorry" I whisper
"I know" he says whispering back
"Peeta I know I will sound weird but I'm scared." I say feeling safe in his arms
I let go of him.
"You will be okay, we will stick together, okay?" He says rubbing my cheek
I smile and nod
"Okay" I say bitting my lip
"Let's go" he says smiling
We walk through the Forrest and we come across this hidden village called 'whitlem' it's beside district 12 and 11. We are headed towards that village because there is a job there, it's basically about hunting and that sort of thing. I never told Prim or mom about this, I just told Peeta and we have been discussing it for a long time and today, finally we decided to go today. It is also a group that wants to stop the Capitol from taking over Panem.
We walked toward the town and I pull out my bow out of my knack sack and pull out arrows.
"Hopefully we don't need to use those, we just want to talk remember?" Peeta whispers to me
"Well if I need to I will" I say as I hand Peeta a knife and he takes it and puts it in his pocket of his long ripped jeans.
We walk up quietly but there is a lot of security.
"Freeze right there!" Yells some woman on guard carrying a gun pointed right at our faces, she looks strong but mentally weak.
Peeta puts up his hands meanwhile I still hold the bow
"Where do you think you are going?" She says smirking
"We were um, kinda, um" Peeta says but I cut him off
"We are here, for the club." I say
"Well look what we have here, we don't just accept any people who come and say 'hey let me in' you think I would? I don't know you guys, now get lost-" the guard says but then the leader/president yells over to her in a special language, she yells back. I think I recognize this language, me and my mom use it.
Peeta looks at me confused.
I say in that language "My name is Katniss and this is Peeta, we don't want any trouble. Listen if you are going to hurt one of us, hurt me and keep the boy safe" I say as I look down
Peeta looks at me and says "what the hell language is that?"
I ignore him and watch the leader and guard gasp
"How do you know that language?" The leader asked
"my mother taught me it" I say as I start to wonder why she is asking me all these personal questions.
"What was your mother's name?" She asked
"Abaca Glaisey Everdeen" I say and I tilt my head, I'm starting to get mad because I don't want to give away all my personal details
Peeta looks at me very confused
"Let them in and Katniss and Peeta welcome, this here is Larreen, she will take you to my office" the leader says and smile and walks away
The guard Larreen looked shock as the leader said those very words.
Peeta walks in beside me slowly and he says "whatever you said worked, good job Kat"
I smile and walk in with him
Larreen takes us to the leader's office and she says "I don't know how you got in but you did it" she says smirking and walks away
I look at Peeta saying in my eyes 'what is her problem' he shakes his head
I open the door and see her sitting there drinking tea
"Please, have a seat!" The leader says and me and Peeta sit down
"I am Radele Coin but please call me Coin" she says
"I am Katniss Everdeen" I say back
"I am Peeta Mellark" Peeta says and I smile
"How do you guys know each other?" Coin asks smiling
"Well I guess we live in the same village and this dork became my best friend" I said and I laughed, Peeta smiled at me.
"No well, he is very kind, he threw me a piece of bread when I was starving and always feeds my family, I'm so thankful for him" I say looking down at my feet
"Well Katniss can be a pain in the ass but man, can she shoot! My father buys her squirrels, he says she shoots them right in the eye everytime" Peeta says smiling
"Well I would love to see what you guys can do! I will make a deal with you" she says getting up and sits on top of the desk closer to us
"I will give you a place to stay if you guys help me team up against the Capitol" she continues
I look over to Peeta to see if I can read my mind meanwhile Peeta is already trying to read mine.
"We both have families in District 12, But the Capitol is slowly getting rid of our district, just promise me and Katniss that you could always be here so we can escape and bring our families" Peeta says and looks back at Coin
"Deal." Coin says smirking
I don't know anymore, I needed fresh air
"We need to go, thank you coin." I say as I get up
Peeta nods and walks out with me.
As we are walking to the exit we get a lot of stares from other people.
"Peeta" I whisper to him
"Yeah" he says back
"I don't trust coin'p" I say whispering back to him as we walk out of the exit.
"I agree."
