I remember the time when my parents used to kiss, laugh, smile, and say the words "I love you" to each other. Me, and Zach would say that it was gross, and that love in general was gross, I Wish it was still like that, but it's not, and that's my problem exactly. Why?, I repeat the question over and over in my mind. Why did she have to meet this guy?
We pull into a driveway I had never seen before. I looked up and saw a house. A big white house. Its windows had some sort of protection on the inside, and the stairs leading to the house looked older than my grandparents. My mom tells us to wait, and the next thing you know my mom gives us the okay to follow her inside. My brother being the curious kind bolts out the door. As we follow my mother inside I realized there was a man sitting at a table reading a hiking magazine.
"Who are you?" I ask
"Oh well hello, my name is Walter" the man tells us.
"Hi, I'm Zach" my brother looks at the man when and shakes his hand when he says it.
"I'm Terra" I say my voice soft and almost inaudible. My mom pulls us into another room.
"Who is he", and "Why are we here" I start blurting out the questions so fast I don't think my mom even understood what I said.
"This is gonna be the biggest shock of your life, but um-"
"What do you mean?" I say worried to know the answer.
"That guy you met out there. Well um, he is my boyfriend" My mom says this in a quiet voice. Almost a I'm sorry voice and let me tell you something, was sure sorry too.
"What?!, you cheated on dad! How could you-" I start to cry and can't finish my sentence because I would've choked on my own tears.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't stand being with your father any longer."
I look over to my brother realizing he is crying too.
"I am shocked" I look at my mom. She seems to be looking at her arm. I looked, and I saw her poking, and prodding a bruise.
"What's that?" I ask
"Oh, nothing" she says quickly hiding it under her shirt sleeve.
"Seriously, What is it?"
"It's a bruise"
"From what?" She looks at it, and looks back at me.
"Your father, and I were fighting and by the looks of it he won."
"I thought you guys only yelled at each other. I didn't know it was this bad" I wipe my tears away realizing I'm still crying so what's the point in wiping the tears.
"I'm sorry this is all so, so, sudden" My mom looks at her feet and then back at me.
"Can I call dad" I ask
"No hun, he's probably still angry"
"Fine, but I am not gonna be best friends with your little friend"
"You mean, boyfriend?" My mother looks into the other room.
"Yeah, whatever" I respond
"Well you're gonna have to deal with it" ,My mom answers, "He's my boyfriend, and your father is gonna have to deal with it too because I'm filing a divorce"
"I hate you" I run out of the house, and plunge to the pavement. The world spins around me in an attempt to make the situation worse than it already is. My entire body felt paralyzed.
I don't understand why this is happening. I pull out my phone and dial the numbers. As it rings I brace myself for what is about to happen.
"Hey hun, Where are you?" My father answer
"Hey, You need to come get me, Now!" I respond
"Why, what's wrong?"
"Just come and get me!", I yell, "I'll text you the address."
20 minutes later my dad pulls into the driveway of the white house that I despise. I fly into the car, in hopes I can far, far away from where I was. Unfortunately the car couldn't drive me to a better life. I watch as my mom runs into the road, and pulls out her phone. *Ring* *Ring*
My fingers shake as I pick up the phone and decline the call.
