<BIRDY POV>

I started unpacking the boxes in my room once they started bringing in my desk and shelves. I had a hammer in my back pocket of my shorts and a drill around here somewhere. My floor was covered with paper and empty boxes when my mom came up.

"Hi honey how are you coming along?" With my back to her I pulled my hair that was up in a pony tail over my shoulder as I turned around.

"Good got some of m-" as I turned to complete my sentence I saw my mother standing with the boy from next door. I could feel my cheeks slightly going pink at the fact he caught me staring at him. I let my eyes go over him. His toned chest was covered by a white V-neck shirt. He stood in basketball shorts and converse which made me smirk because of the way he looked half dressed.

"I'm nick." He said taking a step forward crunching through the paper. I met him half way with my had out stretched.

"Birdy" I said taking his hand. It was much larger then mine and I laughed at the size difference.

"We'll nick here is your age Birdy, nick would you like to stay up here or meet everyone else?" My mother asked. I looked at her with big eyes and rolled them. But when nick agreed to staying up here and helping me I looked at him the same.

-----------------------------------

"So Birdy? That's an interesting name." Nick said holding up one of my shelves that I needed to hang up.

"Mary Katherine is my real name and Birdy is just what everyone else calls me." I said with a little laugh. He nodded and held up the shelf a little more straight as I nailed it to the wall.

<NICKS POV>

I really wasn't paying attention to what it was Birdy was doing until she screamed slightly and walked away from the wall shaking her hand. The hammer clanked to the floor and she crouched over cradling her hand and speaking in pain. I quickly acted kneeling down next to her with one hand placed on her small back and the other reaching to her wounded hand.

"I'm not good with hammers." She said with a sharp laugh.

When she finally let me take her hand out of the other I looked at it flipping it a few times before looking up at her. She was watching me examine her slowly swelling hand. When our eyes locked she quickly pulled her hand away and stood up.

"Let's finish." She said picking up the hammer that laid on the ground at her feet.

"Here I'll do it." I said reaching for the hammer but she held it away from me and informed me that she was perfectly capable of doing it. I just shrugged and supported the side that we were still hammering. She placed her hand above mine on the wall to brace herself before she started to wack at the nail again. With every small tap her small hand slowly slid down the wall. She wasn't very tall so it wasn't until her fifth whack that her hand was barley touching mine.

I looked at her face that held a concentrated look to see if she had noticed but she obviously hadn't. When she finished she pushed the sleeves of her orange cardigan up to her elbows before reaching for a high five. I graciously patted her hand with my own and held it there for as long as she let possible.

My phone started to ring and I automatically knew who it would be.

"Hey Kev." I said holding a single finger to Birdy who nodded and turned to the corner of her room.

"Dude where are you! You have to finish packing like now." He said. He was always worrying.

"Il get it done! I'm helping our new neighbours! Which is more then what you can say you've done to welcome them Kevin." I said turning and glancing to Birdy who didn't seem to be paying any attention to my conversation.

"Actually Joe and I went over to say hello. But we are all packed so we have time todo things like this!" He said. I could imagine him looking out the window of my bedroom with one hand on his hip.

When I finally hung up and turned back to Birdy she was already looking at me.

"Do you have to go?" She asked standing up. I slowly nodded but broke into a silent giggle when she started to pout.

"I'll walk you out?" She asked wiping her hands on her shorts. I nodded and waited for her to take two awkward steps towards the door.

On our way down the large,but now crowded with boxes hallway we small talked. I asked her where she moved here from and she asked me If I've lived here my whole life.

This was nice. Being able to just small talk with a girl like normal. Ever since my brothers and my band went big, we've been nonstop screamed at by girls. Kev was lucky he already had his girl. Joe was all over the place right now dating other celebrities. Then there was me. I didn't pay attention to any of the girls who called my name on the side of the street.

There was something about Birdy though. Either she actually knew who I was and was just trying to act as normal as possible, or she really had no honest idea who I was or what I was apart of. Which was nice.

That is she didn't know until we walked out side and out giant tour bus that would be taking us across America in three days. It wouldn't of been that noticeable if joe hadn't suggested that we have the three of us blown up and placed on the side of the bus.

I looked over to Birdy who was obviously very confused. Her face read one I confusion and shock.

"Um it's a little much don't you think?" She said. This statement confused me greatly. Yes I knew this was way over the top but where is she going with this?

"So, are you goin to explain why there is a huge bus in your drive way with your face on it or what?" She said after a few seconds of us looking at each other. I sighed in relief. She had no idea.

"I'm in a band." I said. She started laughing looking e tween the bus and me.

"Seriously!? What band? Obviously a good one, being able to drive around in that thing." She said laughing. I joined her and explained everything. The Disney channel and record labels. She seemed pretty supportive of the whole thing asking what kind of things I did in the band.

I decided to show her, inciting her into my house.
