Unpredictable [n.h. au]

seventeen.

I could feel the tension as we walked inside the huge mansion. Niall's hand was getting more and more sweaty by the second. Or maybe it was mine. Either way, both of us couldn't be anything less than nervous and anxious.

I looked around the place, white marble floor throughout most of the house, at least what I could see of it. Two enormous, curved staircases lead to the second floor, yet there was an elevator next to the dining room. Everything was neat and clean, perfectly put into place. I wasn't aware who's house I was in, but I was too scared to ask Niall. I didn't know what was going to happen.

We stopped abruptly and he let go of my hand. "Stay here, okay? And please don't touch anything. Dominic wouldn't like it," he said before disappearing into a room with a large wooden door. 'Who the hell is this Dominic guy,' I thought. However, I wasn't gonna go find out. I was just going to stay where I was like Niall told me. I was scared as it was.

A few minutes passed before Niall walked out of the room. He was staring down at the floor as he walked towards me. I couldn't tell what he was thinking nor could I figure out what was happening.

"C'mon, let's head home," he whispered.

I wanted to ask him so many different questions- where are we? Who are these people? What is Niall doing here? But, I simply nodded. I was going to wait for the tension to die down a bit.

We finally got out of the house. We walked at a slow pace to both mine and Niall's cars, his eyes still staring down towards the floor the entire time.

"Niall-"

"Shh," he shushed.

I was so confused. What was this?

"Niall, what-"

"I need to get in my car and drive, okay? I've got a lot on my mind."

In a brave but swift move, I rubbed his cheek with my hand, which actually seemed to calm him. He seemed a little less tense.

He grabbed my hand and put it down slowly. "I'll explain this when we get home. Meet ya there."

short but I literally haven't updated this story since july. college + work + responsibility = not enough time & a tired me. but it's the holidays and end of the semester so hopefully I'll actually have more time now to update.
