After that revelation, I froze. What else could I do? I wanted to yell at Niall for not telling me sooner, but why would I? It wasn't like he told me to go over there. Plus, it was my fault for going over there. I shouldn't have read that text and showed up at the mansion. It was none of my business, yet I still intruded.

"Well, aren't you gonna say something," Niall asked me.

"I'm not sure exactly what I'm supposed to say. Thank you, I guess?" I was at a loss for words. He laughed at my response.

"What?! Thank you? How can you thank me for putting you in danger? Wait, no- scratch that. This wasn't even my intention. Why were you there?" He was angry, his arms flailing around, his nostrils flaring.

I scratched the back of my neck as I hesitated to answer. "Um, yeah...about that.....hey, how about we get some food!"

"Quit the sh*t, Veronica. Tell me, now." He wasn't to be taken lightly. I don't think I had ever seen him so serious before.

"Well, you left your phone here-"

He scoffed in anger. "So what? You think you could just snoop through my phone? Ever heard of privacy?"

"I KNOW. I know I shouldn't have. It's been locked the entire time. But when that text came up, I couldn't resist reading it. When I saw the address, I figured it was a party or something. Don't pin this entire thing on me!"
