Hello lovelies! This is a little intro to a new project I am working on. This scene takes place in a dream that the protagonist is having at the very beginning of the story. This little dream has a whole lot to do with the plot of the story and will probably be referenced in abundance during the continuation of the plot. Enjoy!

In my dream I am in a fairly large study. To my right and left bookcases are flanking the walls. There is a door that leads to what looks like a hallway, but I can't tell because the door is only halfway open. I study the room, it looks strangely familiar, but I can't quite place where I know it from.

I am observing the hanging chandelier when the door opens.

A beautiful young woman enters, carrying a small bundle of clothes. She looks youthful and bright, with black hair tucked back under a thin scarf, the remainder cascading down her back like a dark waterfall. Her tan skin forces her brilliant blue eyes to stand out even more. She sits down and I hear a little squeak come from what I had thought was a bundle of clothes. It was only when I saw a tiny nose protruding from the cloth did I realize that it was a dark haired baby wrapped up in a blanket.

A young man walks in, but his face is blurry in my dream so I can't see it very well. He walks over to the woman and kisses the baby's forehead. He starts talking to the woman, but I can't make out what he's saying. I had barely noticed the ringing earlier but now it echoed in my ears. The man and woman apparently don't hear anything so it must just been me. I watch the woman's face as it turns to an expression of confusion, her eyes clouding, crinkling at the corners as she frowns at the man. Her expression changes from confusion to anger. She stands, carrying the baby close to her, and yells at the man. I immediately feel a surge of a protectiveness for her. Even though I don't know who she is, I feel like I should be protecting her. I feel a connection with this woman somehow.

The man just quietly looks at her. I watch as the woman's expression turns from anger to dejection, tears welling in her eyes as she buries her head into the man's shoulder. The man rubs her back as the baby coos in it's blanket. After a moment, the woman looks up and tries to smile, wiping away another stream of tears. The ringing in my ears cease.

“If you think it's best for her,” She says, and kisses him on the cheek.

The explosion rips through the study as my dream is thrown into confusion. I see a face cloaked in darkness, I see the woman hand the baby to the man, I witness a flash of fire, the woman lying on the ground, the man screaming, a feather landing on the baby, then falling... falling... falling...
