"I'm pregnant, Aubrey." I stare at my seventeen year old best friend. Her long auburn hair falling in her small round face. Her once happy and gleeful hazel-green eyes were dull and distant.

"That's impossible, you’re a virgin. You promised me that you would stay one. How? What?" I ask, words falling out of my mouth. She runs a hand through her hair before speaking.

"It was Liam." My eye widen and I look at my best friend in shock.

"Liam? As in Liam Williams?" She slowly nods and I feel myself slipping slightly.

"How?"

"Remember that party I tried to get you to go to but you had to study?"

"You went without me?" I ask feeling a little hurt. She nodded before placing her hands on her stomach. I slowly look down at her flat stomach.

"Have you told him?' She shook her head.

"What? Why not?" She pulled down on her sleeve nervously. The cold November air hitting us lightly. I looked up at Serena, wishing what she was telling me was all a lie, but the look of devastation and complete utter horror could tell you that she wasn’t lying. She was scared, terrified.

“He left for Louisville at 9. He won’t be back till noon.” She says in a shaky whisper. Liam was a year above us making him a senior. He was known around our school as the good boy gone rouge after his mother died in a car crash. After she died he started hanging around with the wrong crowd. But he is a truly nice guy on the inside. Serena was the only one who could still see that he was just a heartbroken little boy. A couple months ago they started dating things started to get pretty heavy so I made Serena promise not to give it up until she was married. Serena was always the rational one in our group of three, she was the peacemaker, our mom. She helped us with things nobody else seemed to care about. She was there for me since we were six, I was always in her shadow but I never mind it. She was supposed to be the center of attention. It was how we worked.

“Call him, tell him Serena.” I say. She nods before a tear seeps out of her eye. I wipe it off with my thumb and handed her my phone.

“I’ll be inside.” I say before getting up to go inside.

“Bre? What if he... He doesn’t want…it?” Serena stutters. I feel my heart break a little. I nod encouragingly.

“He will, Serena.” I reply. “He loves you.” I whisper silently before opening the front door and closing it. Glancing over the living room I notice my mom passed out again on the couch with beer bottles thrown around her. I crept up to my bedroom, hoping not to wake up Brandon. I quietly made it to my room without making a single noise. It was one in the afternoon and mostly everybody in my house was asleep.

I need a shower, I need to think this all through. I grabbed some clothes and ran to the bathroom across my room and locked the door. Taking off my clothes cautiously I stepped into the shower. The hot water felt like hell on my fresh bruises, but I couldn’t do anything about them.

My best friend is pregnant. She is freaking pregnant, with Liam Williams baby. She is carrying a baby inside of her. No matter how many times I tried to get it through my head I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t want her to be like me. I felt my tears mix in with the shower water and decided to get out.

“Aubrey! Open this goddamn door right now!” I frantically pulled on my clothes before swinging open the door. Looking at those once bright blue eyes that I loved I could only see a monster.

“About time, move I need to take a piss.” Brandon pushed me roughly out of the way before slamming the door. I ran downstairs and out the front door. Serena was still sitting there with my phone in her hand.
