Cassandra woke to the rain clattering on her window. A small noise of complaint came from somewhere next to her as she pulled away to look out of it. She opened the curtain slightly and hissed as the thick material dragged over a tender spot. She'd forgotten about that - the inscription had been rather painful but she loved the 'infinity' symbol now tattooed on the base of her thumb. She loved what it stood for too.

The rain was pelting heavily and she watched it for a minute, thinking about everything. If she'd been told a year ago that she'd be meeting people from another planet, would fall for one of them and would subsequently end up bonded to him, she'd have called the men in white coats. She gazed at the moon, wondering what else was beyond her and smiled as arms were slipped around her waist.

"What are you thinking, my Cass?"

"Just how tiny we really are. I wonder how much more is out there?"

"More than either of us can comprehend, I would wager."

"It really makes you wonder why people consider themselves such a big screaming deal, doesn't it."

Amitiel smiled and turned her toward him. "I never did think that people were a big screaming deal."

She looked at him, his skin glowing silver in the moonlight. His hair was tousled and his eyes were half-closed. The moonlight made him a living rendition of perfection. He was beautiful.

"Have I told you that I love you?" she asked, trailing one hand down his back, stroking the line of soft hair that grew there.

"Yes. But I will never tire of hearing it." He pulled her gently toward him and kissed her thoroughly but so softly. "Have I told you that moonlight becomes you?"

Cassandra glanced at herself. Her skin was almost as white as his in the moonlight and although she wasn't aware of it, her eyes sparkled and her hair looked like living fire.

"You are a goddess, my Cass."

This kiss was longer, more passionate and they were both breathless when they drew apart.

"You are mine now. Does that frighten you?" he asked, touching his forehead to hers.

Cassandra smiled. "No. It would frighten me more if that weren't true."

"Why?' Quizzical.

"Because then you wouldn't be mine."

They looked at each other and burst out laughing. "Ugh, when did we get so sappy?" Cassandra giggled.

"Sometime after our inscription, I think." White teeth flashed in a grin. "I do hope we do not turn into one of those couples who agree on everything."

"Why?"

"Because if we never argue, we never get the fun of making up."

Cassandra shivered slightly at the look Amitiel gave her now. "I love how your mind works, Ami."

"Ach. My mind is not what is on your mind right now."

"Ah, the psychic connection is alive and well" she grinned. "Tell me - what am I thinking right now?"

It was Amitiel's turn to shiver.
