The Aftermath

They say that the funeral was two weeks later, after they found his body. It was bloated and was so morbid that almost everyone who went had to look away, or even leave early in fear in puking. My mom was one of those people. That's what she told, at least.

I figure that you're all probably wondering what happened to poor Jimmy, but that's the problem, no one really knows. The coroner ruled his death as accidental drowning, but everyone knew that it didn't add up. I mean, for sure, he did drown, but accidental might be stretching it a bit far.

After Jimmy apparently offed himself, accidentally, remember, she changed completely. Suddenly, instead of the sweet girl that she always portrayed herself as, she turned into some mean and self-centered woman. Everyone noticed the change and couldn't help but wonder why this was happening. Sure, maybe it was because her lover died, but maybe it was something more, as most of the town began to suspect. Even worse, almost two months after Jimmy died, she went and got pregnant by some other guy that later became her husband. Not that he lasted long either, but it was more than poor Jimmy could say.

Anyways, people began to suspect that she had something to do with his death, and were quick to act upon their suspicions. Relatively soon, she was openly ridiculed at public places, and was sometimes not even let in to bars or restaurants. Although no one said it, they all knew that she was the cause of Jimmy' death, even if they didn't know how. And yeah, there really was no evidence, but let's just say say that it's what the people in Rowley's Bay had a certain premonition. After all, the town was once rumored to have been an ancient Indian burial grounds hundreds of years ago. But that was just speculation, although my mom has been known to say different.
