The drive home was filled with silence as I stared out the windshield at the ruby red car in front of me, starting and stopping in the after school traffic. I never really turned the radio on unless Brandon was in the car, it just felt like it was something to disturb my thoughts when I need to focus on other things currently. Other things being getting to my beautiful girlfriends house before I lose my mind. All I want at the moment was to see her beautiful heart shaped face and short brown hair.
Chloe only lived a few blocks from my house but it was still hard to see her without my parents or brother seeing me. My dark blue Sonata wasn't very noticeable in our neighborhood since all the neighbors houses and cars look practically the same. So pulling up to her house she lets me park in the garage so my parents don't accidentally notice my car.
I could see her on the porch when I pulled in and an immediate grin crossed my face. I don't know why she has this affect on me but she can make me smile just by being near me. She hadn't noticed me yet, she probably had her headphones in but that makes it all the better.
She had her short hair clinging to her neck like it always does with a black beanie barely hanging onto her head, and was sitting on the edge of her short porch. Her skinny jeans were dark today and she wore a flannel shirt with red converse to match. She was bobbing her head to the music with her eyes closed as she sat on her concrete porch.
I grabbed my bag out of the car and walked out of the garage towards her waiting for her to notice me. She continued to bob her head long with her music which only gave me one choice, I dropped my bag at my feet so I could get a running start, and ran towards her. She opened her eyes right as I grabbed onto her and tackled her onto her porch.
I heard her start to laugh as I let her go and she pulled her headphones out.
"Hi there!" She half yelled as I helped her up.
"Hello gorgeous." I said still laughing as she cleaned her pants off.
"That was so uncalled for." She said glaring at me as she continued to fix her pants.
"Yes, but you love me." I replied grinning at her. She grinned back and went to grab my bag for me while I opened her front door and walked in like I lived there. "Is your mom home?"
"No, she is at the market right now; sorry for the let down." She laughed as she came in behind me and walked on to the kitchen.
"Well crap, what are we going to do for food?" I said over dramatically.
"Why are you always hungry?"
"Don't judge me and my food intake!" I said sitting on the breakfast bar, "Now feed me!"
"Yes ma'am. Note to self, do not get in between Vanessa and her food." She said digging in her cupboards for any kind of sustenance.
As she rummaged through the cupboards I looked around her kitchen and took in the simplicity. The light wooden floor and matching cupboards and counters. The bright white fridge and white stove with matching white counter tops. It all came together with their silver sink that was so simple and elegant at the same time. The kitchen was so small compared to ours, it was the complete opposite considering our kitchen was dark and black. They're kitchen was very refreshing to be in.
"Chips and salsa!" Chloe announced snapping me out of my train of thought.
"What no guacamole?" I asked jokingly.
"Well if you wanted I could-"
"No, no, the chips and salsa are great Chloe, thanks." I said interrupting her.
She smiled and she opened the chips and poured them into a bowl for us so we could bring them into the living room to eat. Her living room is much smaller than ours at home but it feels much cozier. Her suede couches were amazing compared to our leather couches. Her coffee table was dark wood as a nice contrast in comparison to our glass table that we can't even put our feet on.
Sitting with her in here was calm, peaceful, just easy. It felt like the simplest thing in the world, just so natural for us. She left the tv off because we tend to just talk when I come over instead of watching the television like normal teenagers do.
"Did anything exciting happen at school today?" She asked as she took a bite of the tortilla chips.
"Yeah, Brandon got a girlfriend." I laughed.
"Brandon is gay, and you are not funny." She said shoving me.
"But I'm cute!" I laughed. "No really nothing happened."
"You don't sound very reassuring." She paused then studied my face, "Did it happen again?"
"Did what happen?"
"The daydream with your parents? Did it happen again?"
I burst into tears as she asked, I just couldn't help myself; it hurt so much. Chloe wrapped her arms around me as I cried into her shoulder. The heartbreak of reality is too strong to handle. We sat on the couch together letting our chips and dip get cold as I cried, and Chloe clung to me.
"Why can't they accept me like your mom accepts you Chloe? It just isn't fair!" I said when I started to calm down.
"They will accept you, you just haven't told them yet. You just have to wait until your birthday on Saturday and then you can tell them. They will accept you! You have to believe they'll accept you so they will."
"No they won't Chloe, you know what good Christians they are! They aren't going to accept me at all. I'm going to be kicked out flat."
"Olivia, the more you put yourself down the more you're just going to believe that this isn't going to happen." She was scolding me.
"Chloe, really? You're going to treat me like a child right now? I'm almost eighteen come on! Give me a break!"
"I'm not treating you like a child, I'm just babying you like you want me to. You want to be coddled right? Well I'm not going to do that." She said leaning back away from me. "You're almost eighteen? Yes I know that your birthday is on Saturday and it'd be great if it was here sooner so I could kiss you without it being illegal because I am nineteen. So do me and yourself a favor and stop feeling sorry for yourself! Pick yourself up, get ready for Saturday, and be excited that we finally get to tell your freaking parents about us."
"Did you really just go all dramatic speech on me?" I said looking up at her.
"It got you to stop crying didn't it?" She said with that small smile that made her freckles even more clear on her face.
"Stop being cute when I'm upset."
"Stop being upset when I'm being cute." She said kissing my cheek. "Now let's warm up our chips and dip, actually pick a movie for once, and do something instead of sitting here in tears and silence."
"Yes ma'am!" I said moving to the movie rack as she went to heat up the chips.~Hey guys, this is just a small thing I worked on a little while ago. Please let me know if you'd like more of it by Voting and Commenting. Thanks! -MSSDTOP
