Reality: A Short Story

Aftermath

Now that I'm older I understand my mom believed she was morally right. Having adopted children and dealing with them I will raise them under Christianity but with different teachings then I was taught. My wife supports my decision of becoming a guidance counselor and being around kids who are about to be adults.
My children are free to be who they want, they can be gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, or anything they would ever want to be. My wife and I will not go against their wishes and we will support our children through everything.
My father visits often with my stepmother in tow. He loves seeing the kids and chasing them around the yard, I believes he's still trying to make things up to me but I forgave him that day.
John comes around when he can, his kids are a handful within themselves so it's great when we can get all the kids together. His wife is gorgeous and he is also still trying to make things up to me. He may still have to try a little.
I'm happy with who I am now and I can happily accept myself. The community may not accept me or my lifestyle but I'm happy with everything that's happened in my life.
Besides, Chloe's pretty happy with our life too.
