Chapter 5
“Bryce, you have to tell us what has gotten you so shaken up! What did Kathleen say? There was loads of noise at one point, you two did not get kinky did you?” Lyle demanded, leaning over Bryce’s bed with his hands on his hips.
“I can not tell you right now, Lyle.” Bryce said, simply, rolling over on his bed so his back was facing his twin.
“And why would that be? We have all the time in the world right now!” He exclaimed, throwing his arms up in the air for exahaduration.
“I have a test to study for.”
“Bryce, you don’t go to school anymore.”
“Oh... yeah, that’s right I don’t, do I?”
“What a flimsy excuse, Bryce. Now tell me when she said or I’ll go and get Sen!
Bryce simply ignored his brother, flicking through a magazine in front of him.
“Bryce! Don’t ignore me! I’ll sing the bear song?” Lyle threatened, a grin spreading on his face when Bryce suddenly sat up, his eyes wide with fear at the idea.
“You would not dare.” He countered, although he sounded unsure.
To prove himself, Lyle began to slowly clap his hands.
“Bry-bear-chan! Bry-bear-chan! I really love my Bry-bear-chan!” He began to sing, clapping in time to the words. His grin grew as Bryce’s face turned bright red.
“Lyle stop that!”
“Bry-bear-chan! Bry-bear-chan! I really love my Bry-bear-chan!” He continued, trying hard not to begin laughing and ruin the little tune he had began working up.
Bryce quickly turned onto his side, clamping his pillow tightly around his ears to try and block out the sound. “No stop it! You are not allowed to sing that!”
“Ohhh, would you rather Serenity sing it to you? After all, she made it up!”
“At least Serenity has a good singing voice! You sound like a dying whale!”
“Bryce, I am hurt!” Lyle pouted, crossing his arms stubbornly at the insult. “If you do not tell me, I’ll just have to go and get Serenity and make her sing it to you!”
“You would not.”
“Are you sure about that? I am sure Solar and Raito would love to hear from us again! Last time we spoke to the lockets you were still in a relationship, right?” Lyle asked, still unable to keep the grin from his face.
After telling Lyle to shush once again, Bryce went back to his magazine, trying hard to get the attention off his crush on Serenity. “Oh, Lyle, did you know that David Colfer is nominated for the Best Myst Teacher? He’s the only Myst Teacher so he’s bound to win, but still, isn’t that good?”
“Bryce, he’s nominated every year, and wins every year. It is not that new.”
“Even still. Did you hear about Malcolm? Apparently his Myst came through, he’s a Poison! It is been ages since we went to Lilwen! When do you think we could go back again, eh? I miss it.”
“Bryce Antony White, stop changing the subject and tell me what Kathleen said!”
“I can not, my fortune cookie this morning said to tell my Twin nothing.”
“Now you are just trying to annoy me!” Lyle huffed, crossing his arms. “Fine then! If you do not wanna tell me, then I won’t share my cupcake with you when Grayson bakes later on!”
