Once upon a time... there was an innocent Potterhead. He really loved Harry Potter, you could even say he was a... FANBOY. He had a Gryffindor scarf, a wand from Universal, and was in the process of writing a Dramione fanfiction. So far, it had 3k reads! He was doing great! Nothing could stop him!
Meanwhile... There was an innocent Twihard. She really loved the Twilight series, you could even say she was a... FANGIRL. She dressed up for Bella for Halloween, owned all of the books and movies, and had a poster of the cast in her room. [Team Jacob]. She was writing a Bellacob/Jacobella (I don't know which ship name is official...) fanfiction. So far, it had 3k reads! She was doing great! Nothing could stop her!
Each fanchild was happy with their fandom. THEN...
One day, a scheming user Private Messaged the Potterhead fanboy. It had a link to a story. Unknowing, the boy followed the link. And everything changed.
Suddenly, he was dumped into a TWILIGHT OPINION BOOK. It was called something suuuper original, like "Why Harry Potter is not as good as Twilight". Suddenly, his entire hobby, his entire fandom, his whole enjoyment of Wattpad was at risk! He had thought it was enough to like Harry Potter, but now this author was pointing out everything wrong with his belief. The author's name was dumb. The FANCHILD name apparently meant you smoked pot. The PLOT OF THE ENTIRE BESTSELLING BOOK SERIES was flawed and boring! The boy was taken aback. These Twihards were insulting his fandom! He couldn't let this go on! After leaving a few angry comments, he rushed over and, leaving his fanfiction in the dust, started a new story...
All right. Remember the girl, the Twihard? Anyway, while all this was happening, she was still doing wondahfully! She was up to 4k reads and climbing! But then...
One day, a scheming user Private Messaged the Twihard fangirl. It had a link to a story. Unknowing, the girl followed the link. And everything changed.
Suddenly, she was dumped into a HARRY POTTER OPINION BOOK. It was called something suuuper original, like "Why Harry Potter is way better than Twilight". Suddenly, her entire hobby, her entire fandom, her whole enjoyment of wattpad was at risk! She had thought it was enough to like Harry Potter, but now this author was pointing out everything wrong with her belief. Apparently, the main character's name was uncreative. According to the book, just because Bella jumped off a cliff, other girls in real life did too, and that makes Twilight a terrible series. As the girl read more and more, she got madder and madder. People commited suicide in real life, just because it was in a book doesn't mean it promoted violence! Harry Potter is dumb because he runs into danger at every opportunity, but no one's saying that Harry Potter sucks! And sure, Bella made some mistakes, but that just makes her a more realistic character! Every angry thought rushed through the girl's head. "Our fanchild name does NOT sound like we're constipated!"
She didn't hold back. Now, she hated Harry Potter, and she wanted this author to know that she hated him, too. She commented on every point he made and Private Messaged him to let him know of her despisement. She almost wrote a "Why Twilight is better than Harry Potter" book. The only thing that held her back was the thought that if she could make the author take down the book, everything would be fine. So she continued with her hate and anger.
The Potterhead boy was in a downward spiral. Disappointed fans of his Dramione fanfiction were asking, begging him to update. Reads gradually slowed down, stopping cold at 4k. His one and only author's note explaining his digital absense got one vote. ONE VOTE! From his faithful follower, (haha let's have fun here), blueamber68. She was the first of the many followers he'd ever had. The number was dwindling as of recently. But then, when she read his new book, she unvoted the chapter, deleted all of her comments, and unfollowed him. He couldn't understand it. He PMed her asking why, and she only responded with a link to a book. His new book.
Then, there was this insane Twihard who kept telling him crap about his book! She was really cruel and said some things too terrible to repeat, and wouldn't stop. When he reported her, another account popped up and kept at it, and he knew it was the same girl. He tried keeping it from getting to him, but, as all continuous harassment does, of course it did. So he retaliated in the only way he could: through his Harry Potter opinion book. He hated Twilight more than ever, and he said so in his book. He implored every Twihard reader why they would do these terrible things.
And so it continued, getting worse and worse until finally, the boy snapped. He wrote his final chapter, pouring out his hatred, anger, and hurt, directed at the Twilight fandom. He said every little thing that came to mind, hurting many readers, while some just responded with even more hate. He deactivated his account and switched to a new one, starting again. His fanfiction grew layers of virtual dust as readers slowly but surely gave up.
And the Twihard? She never got better, snapping at every user who PMed her asking why she had caused this to happen. Her fanfiction also lost interest. So the two warring Wattpaders split their ways, each knowing that they are worse off, each unsure of what lay ahead.
And you know what? Their story goes on.
-------------------------------—-------------------------------
Moral of the story: Don't assume, it makes an ass out of u and me. Just because one person disagrees, doesn't mean you generalize and go against the entire fandom. Okay, you can like Harry Potter and hate Twilight. THAT'S FINE. But when you directly attack someone, expect retaliation. And: DON'T ATTACK SOMEONE. Don't be an a$$hole, alright? You can take a deep breath, mutter incoherently all of your bad thoughts, even keep a PRIVATE diary! But as soon as you involve others, it goes downhill from there.
There's too much wrong with opinion books to cram into one update, so stay tuned! This has been TWILIGHT AND HARRY POTTER from blueamber68! A TRUE BLUE production.Up next: the ship you've all been waiting for: JELSA AND JACKUNZEL!!!!
