Alfred was there when the people of Roanoke disappeared. He knows what happened to them. He's the only one who knows what happened to those people. But he never told anyone what happened. He never told anyone anything. Whether it traumatized him or he simply doesn't want to talk about it, no one knows. Any time Roanoke is mentioned he either goes quiet or tries to change the subject. He won't talk about it with anyone; not to Japan, not to England. Not even Canada.
And he wants to keep it that way.
