Things at the pizzeria were still a little shaky. Scott was only just recovering and still refused to leave Vincent's side. Vincent was trying to comfort him, saying he was totally fine with dying that way. He even went as far to say "Hey, you never know, maybe we will have broken up before then or something and you hate my guts, so... good riddance, right?" which naturally only made Scott feel much worse. Vincent wasn't good at comforting people, in fact, he hated feelings. The only reason he was attempting it was because he was pretty sure seeing Scott sad was killing him inside, and it was a much worse death than at the hands of those stupid spirit children that had been haunting him in his dreams.
Mike had been off thinking. He might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he certainly wasn't stupid. And something was seriously bugging him about all of this. The ghost children. They'd seemed to be really angry at Vincent. And why'd Vincent go back to destroy the animatronics anyway? He had been really snappy when Scott had talked about the animatronics being possessed, and nobody could say that Vincent wasn't the murderer type. In fact, Mike would go as far as to say he was completely insane. Something fishy was going on, and Mike had his sights set on finding it out.
Twitch sighed, walking over to her laptop and launching Five Nights at Freddy's. "Guys... another dare. I... I really don't want to do this to you... especially to you guys, Vincent and Scott, but a dare's a dare. You have to play the first game in the series... the one set in only a few years from now, possibly 1996."
Jeremy and Fritz walked over to the computer, followed by Mike, and finally Vincent and Scott.
"Let's get this over with..." Scott sat down in the chair. "I still don't think it's right to be playing in our future..."
"Well, the second game is set in this year..." Twtich shrugged, "And the fourth is set in 1983... I... I guess you can assume what it's about."
Scott and Vincent nodded. "The springlock malfunction."
"Yeah," Twitch said. "Well, there's no minigames this time. Just... play through the nights."
Scott sighed, and pressed 'new game'.
"Hello? Hello, hello? Hey!" Scott's voice played out over the speakers, only a little more tired. Nervous. Edgy.
"Geez, I sound awful..." Scott said, listening to him self stutter out obvious lies and excuses.
"Maybe you know something bad's going to happen..." Mike said quietly. "Because you played the 'game' of our lives, so you know what happens in the end."
Scott shuddered a little, not liking that idea very much at all.
"Uhh... they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too, but then there was The Bite of '87..."
Everybody watching froze.
"T-T-The B-Bite of '87?"Jeremy stuttered.
"But it's 1987 now..." Fritz breathed.
Scott gulped slightly. "Well... it would seem that something is going to happen. And soon."
The rest of the night was uneventful, and most of the other nights, barring a surprise with Foxy in Night 2.
When Night 4 started, Twtich stiffened. "Scott... you can back out."
"What?" Scott asked, looking at Twitch.
"I said, you can back out," Twitch said.
"But I thought you always say... a dare's a-"
"I know what I say, Scott..." Twitch snapped, staring at the 'Mute Call' button that had just appeared. "I'm saying, this is your last chance. You can back out."
Scott frowned. "Twitch... does something bad happen...? Something you don't want me to see...?"
Twitch looked down as the call began. "It's too late. I'm sorry..."
"Hello, hello? Hey! Hey, wow, day 4. I knew you could do it..."
Scott's attention was turned back to the screen.
"Uh, hey, listen, I may not be around to send you a message tomorrow... It's-It's been a bad night here... for me... Um, I-I'm kinda glad that I recorded my messages for you," Scott's voice sounded shaky. Scared. He cleared his throat, "uh, when I did...."
Scott's eyes widened a little. Vincent grabbed his hand, glaring at the screen as if hating that it could possibly suggest that anything bad would happen to his one and only.
"Uh, hey, do me a favor. M-Maybe sometime... you could check inside those suits in the back room...?"
"I'm going to die, aren't I?" Scott said quietly.
Vincent squeezed his hand comfortingly, but he didn't say anything. What was there to say?
"I'm gonna try to hold out until someone checks... M-Maybe it won't be so bad. Uh, I-I-I-I always wondered what was in all those empty heads back there..."
Scott stood up and walked away from the computer, starting to panic a little. He didn't want to die!
"...You know... Oh no..."
There was the unmistakable sound of a jumpscare, and the call ended. Scott jumped a little, his blood running cold.
Vincent was terrifyingly indifferent. It wasn't the first time somebody he loved had died. But for the first time, he felt a twinge of true sadness. A hint of heart-break, and a feeling he'd never felt before. Guilt. The animatronics moved because of him. They wanted to kill because of him.
Scott was going to die. Because of him.He walked over to Scott. There was a long silence for a long time.
"I... I... I don't want to die..." Scott choked out. "I don't want to leave you. Vincent, it's only in a couple of years! I'm still only in my twenties! I... I'm going to die..."
Vincent stared at him sadly. He didn't know what to say.
Twitch walked over. "You know, Scott..." she said quietly. "It's possible you didn't die..."
Scott looked at her. "B-But... you heard me... the jumpscare..."
"Yeah, but... there's a lot of theories on how you might not have died. I mean, we never hear you die, right? And in the third game, there's absolutely no reference to you having died in a suit like Vincent does... A lot of people say that even if the animatronics got you, the 6AM chime went off just in time." She half-smiled.
Vincent nodded, "It's not set in stone yet, Scott. I swear I'll protect you. I'll tear those childr- I mean, animatronics, apart with my bare hands if it means saving you."
Scott looked at the both of them. "You think so?"
"I know so," Twitch and Vincent said together.
Scott managed a watery smile and hugged them both. "T-Thanks."
