how to get reads

this isn't exactly helping with writing, but a lot of people wanna know how to get reads so here we go.

1. MAKE FRIENDS !! MAKE FRIENDS !! MAKE FRIENDS !!

i cannot stress that enough. this is possibly the best tip i'll give. but if you want reads, make friends. and no, i'm not telling you to hit people up and say "hey! can you read my story?" then try to be friends with them (don't do that, it's hella annoying). find someone who genuinely interests you, message them, befriend them. then, sooner or later, they'll find themselves clicking into your story (i don't know why people do this, but it's normal) and bam. you'll have friends, and reads.

2. UPDATE FREQUENTLY

yeah, i'm a hypocrite because i suck at updating. but this helps i s2g

when it takes authors months to update it's normal for people to lose interest in the story, even if they loved it. reads will start to fall, and people will start to forgot about your story and profile and general. be active. (and if you lose interest in the story delete it so you don't make others suffer)

3. BE ACTIVE

these are like wattpad hacks but,,

BE ACTIVE !! if you like someone's icon, tell them ! if you go and blow up someone's feed they'll most likely click into one of the stories they find interesting and check them out. you can't just sit back and not do anything and expect a million reads, that's not how it works

4. BE PATIENT

you simply cannot expect to get a thousand reads on a story as soon as you post it. you have to be patient with your stories/readers, because the reality is that nothing is gonna come when you expect it (unless you have the same amount of followers as like anna todd), so after you post something just forgot about it. maybe post a status (A POLITE ONE) and then chill. things will come eventually
