This is a sequel to my last one shot.
It had been a few days since you met Momotarou and you couldn't seem to get the beetle collecting boy off your mind. The way he had smiled at you made you giggle to yourself and sigh with dizzying happiness whenever the thought crossed your mind, which of course, hadn't gone unnoticed. Everyone who knew you, including your parents, was convinced that you had some sort of secret crush, which was true though the two of you would probably never meet again.
The bell rang snapping you out of your daydream. You were in Maths but it last period so it wasn't like you cared enough to pay attention. Looking down at your exercise book you saw little hearts doodled among the sums; maybe this crush was a little more intense than you thought. There was giggling from the desk next to you.
"So, how goes the obsession?" Asked you best friend Chigusa Hanamura, or Hana-chan to you and your other best friend Gou, between laughs.
You hadn't actually told her about your crush on Momotarou, but from the amount of times you had zoned out and then randomly said 'Momo' when she jolted you, it was easy to suss out that this was about a boy.
"It's not an obsession," you scolded, glaring at her. You had had to endure a lot of teasing since your meeting with Momotarou.
"Whatever, you better hurry up and get to Gou. She can't be late for her daily perving on swimmers muscles."
She was referring to you going with Gou to her brother's school to watch swimming practice. Unlike a while ago, they were now on good terms, so she went to watch the practice to his knowing, instead of sneaking over there. You were meant to be going to after school orchestra practice, but the teacher who took it was sick so it was not like you would miss much. You decided instead to accept Gou's ever-open invitation to go muscle watching with her. Picking up your books and stuffing them in your bag, you nodded at Hana and waved before walking out of the classroom. After being dismissed from you form room you left and headed for the front of the school where you had agreed to meet Gou.
She was already there when you arrived.
"Hey Gou!" You greeted jogging up to her.
"It's 'Kou', and you're late."
" Sorry Kou"
She huffed and headed away from you, to Samezuka Academy, leaving you jogging up to her again until you fell into step next to her. The walk to Samezuka wasn't long so you after a few minutes of actually walking with Gou you arrived. The two of you went inside and having been there before, she lead you the pool.
A rush of warm, chlorine scented air hit you as you stepped through the glass doors being held open by Gou. The pool was nothing like the one at your school, Iwatobi. For starters it was inside, and while it had the same basic features, came with a slightly more professional air. Though you weren't a swimmer, you could tell that it was better.
Both of you sat down by the benches at the side of the pool: Gou leaning forward, elbows resting on her things in anticipation and you, leaning back and slouching slightly, ready to whip your phone out and pass the next hour trawling through Wattpad.
A sudden fit of squealing next to you caused you to sit up and stare at the girl your right. Gou's eyes however, were directed at the door leading to what you guessed, was the changing room. A line of boys emerged, most talking to each other but all gravitating towards another, visibly taller, male who had also entered the room. This, you guessed, was the captain. After he briefed them and set the swimmers training he turned to try and catch Gou's attention for a while, but she was already looking out at the pool. Your attention turned back to your phone and you opened a Kaisoo fanfic in your library.
Your peaceful reading didn't last long as Gou shook your right shoulder, causing you to swipe up an lose your place.
"(Y/n) I brought you here to watch, not to ship."
"But-" you tried to defend yourself and get back to reading.
"I get that you're EXO trash but for once can you not?"
" Fine..." You locked your phone and slipped it back into your pocket, gazing towards the pool before you as you did so. At first you weren't paying attention, you would rather be reading, but eventually you noticed a boy on the sidelines, a boy with golden yellow eyes and red hair surprising similar to though tidier than the supposed captain's, but most importantly, a boy who looked like Momotarou.
You gasped, both shocked and confused. Surely it wasn't him, it would be a very fortunate coincidence if it was, and the guy looked exactly like him, yet you refused to believe that you could be so lucky. Still you continued to stare at the boy, which didn't go unnoticed by him or your best friend.
The practice finally ended and the swimmers piled back into the changing room. You and Gou stood up, preparing to leave and as you walked towards the glass doors you sighed a bit. You had noticed that the boy was staring back at you some time ago, between the blowing of whistles and Gou whispering in your ear about which swimmers had the most impressive bodies. A small part if you hoped that the male was Momotarou and that he would approach you, or at least acknowledge you in some way. But alas, no such thing happened.
The captain from earlier ran up to you two, causing you to stop as he talked to Gou. You, rather than getting involved in the conversation, stood behind her. Sure, it was awkward, but you were in no mood to talk. Foot steps hit the ground behind you but you figured that it was just one of the swimmers going home.
"(Y/n)?"
Your heart skipped a beat, Momo? You froze for a while, overjoyed that it was him but still doubting that it was him.
"(Y/n), that's you isn't it?"
You turned around quickly to face him and stuttered a quick "Yes". The two of you stared into each other's eyes like the first time that you met...until you were interrupted by a certain loud, red headed captain.
"Momo is that your girlfriend again?"
You spin around flustered and looked to Gou, silently begging her to make him stop. She laughed.
"(Y-Y/n) I think we should get going, it's late," she somehow got out between laughs. You were beginning to think that you needed better friends, or at least ones who didn't do that.
"One second," you turned toward Momo, "I have to go."
"Okay, well can you come back here tomorrow? I don't have practice but we can hang out, i-if you want," his voice got quieter and shaky towards the eve of the sentence but you still heard him.
You nodded quickly and shot him a small smile before turning once more to leave with Gou.
You were glad you had come with her.
