It's Friday. The day before Saturday. Otherwise known as the day before Hadley and I meet Niall. Yep, well can you guess who's nervous?! This girl!
Aria is babysitting Hadley for the day. She and Emily have literally been my best friends through out this whole thing. When I first moved in with my aunt, they were her neighbors. They were already best friends and as soon as they saw me with my stuff they came out and introduced themselves. Over the years it's been hard to open up to them, only because of all the crap Braxx put me through. It was hard to trust anyone, really, but after a short six months of knowing these girls, I knew I could trust them completely.
"Aria, Hadley! I'm home!" I yelled into my apartment and threw my bag down. Right on cue, a bouncing little girl came running around the corner and attacked me with a hug.
"Mummy! Me and Aria were just having a tickle fight!" Hadley said. She pushed her blonde side-swept bangs out of her face. The blonde came from Braxx, no doubt. I was the most brunette girl you could get. Nothing changing my stick-straight brown hair.
"Really?! And who won?!" I asked her.
"ARIA DIDDD! HOLLER!" My blonde friend came around the corner laughing. She had her hair up in a messy bun, a baggy shirt(probably her boyfriend's), and a pair of navy blue sweatpants on today. How she rocked the lazy look, I have absolutely no idea.
"Of course, haha" I chuckled,"Hadley why don't you go play in the lounge for a bit while me and Aria go talk?" I suggested to my daughter as I put her down. I patted her bum and she trotted over to the lounge.
"So what's the scoop? Em said something was happening tomorrow!" Aria nudged me 'lightly' in the side.
"Ow!" I said, rubbing my side,"That hurt! Anyway, yeah. There's this guy..." I trailed. I knew Em was on her way but I wanted to wait to tell them when she was here. I had already told Em about Niall and I having plans, but she didn't know that Niall was a guy. I told her I had plans with a 'friend'.
"WHAT?! AIMEE! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME LIKE RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED?!"
"Shut up! You're gonna get Hadley all excited!" I swatted her arm,"Just wait until Emily gets here and I'll tell you!" She rolled her eyes and pulled her phone out of her pocket. She was typing and giggling when I decided to get up and make some tea.
Over the past three years, Aria has decided it's a game to play with the way she likes her tea. At first, it was just plain tea. No milk, no sugar, nothing. Then it was a TON of milk, and one cube of sugar. Then it was no milk and two cubes of sugar, and so on. Instead of risking her 'usual' lately, I decided to ask her.
"Aria how do you want your tea this week?"
"Nothing. Just tea, thanks babe." She squeeked and started typing again.
Just as I was pouring the tea into cups, the doorbell rang.
"Aria could you get that love? It's Em," I asked her. She jumped up and ran to the door. After she dragged Emily into the room, I heard Hadley bounce in behind them. She gave Em a hug and went back to her toys in the lounge.
"Hey Aim," she said, thanking me for the tea and sitting down,"What's up?"
"There's a guy Emily! A GUY!" Aria practically screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Aria! Shut up!" I whisper-yelled. I could feel the heat rush to my cheeks as Emily looked at me with wide eyes and an open mouth.
"Well spill the beans you dork!" She said.
"Ok, well you know how me and Hadley went shopping in Dublin the other day?" They nodded, sitting on the edge of their seats,"Well she got hungry so we stopped at Nando's, and while we were playing 'I Spy', she pointed out this lad's eyes. His name was Niall..."
"Aimee and Niall sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g! Firs-"
"Let the girl tell the story Aria!" Emily swatted at her. She glued her eyes back to me after scolding our friend.
"So then we ordered our food and said goodbye, and when I was going through the bag to get my food, I saw writing on a napkin and it said:
You're the most beautiful girl I've ever met. Call me princess. -Niall.
and it had his number on it. So then I came home and put Hadley to bed and called it."
The girls gasped. Like I said before, I have trust issues because of Braxx, so when things like this happen, and they literally haven't since I moved here, it's a shock.
"What'd he say?!" Aria said before taking another sip of her tea.
"Well, he told me that Hadley was cute after the fact I told him that she was my daughter. He...also said we should meet at Oakdale Creek...tomorrow." I finished and waited for the girl's reactions. All I got were stares and open mouths.
"ARE YOU GONNA GO?!" Emily yelled at me.
"Well, yeah?"
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" They both screamed.
"Really guys, it's not that big of a deal. Once he realises what he's gotten himself into he'll back down, I promise." I was convinced he was going to. What guy wants to date a girl........and her kid? That's pretty much what it would be like; always having to lug a kid aroud, worrying about getting a babysitter if we went out alone, and so on.
"Hun, if he didn't hang up on you the minute you told him she was your kid, obviously he likes you." Em said. I'd thought about that, but at the same time, it's hard to believe somebody would like me. I dunno. Being insecure sucks.
"You're amazing. Your kid's amazing. What else could he ask for? Go out there, and get him tiger. You got nothin' to lose kid." Em agreed and took the last sip of her tea.
"You guys....I love you..." I gushed and reached over the table for a group hug.
"Now how about we order pizza and have a girls night? I'll run out and get some ice cream!" Em suggested. They pretty much lived here with me and Hadley anyway, so why not?
