( Nalah in the media )
- Jai
"School is really friggin' frustrating!" I slam my book down. I hate my science professor. I hate science in general.
"Yo, what's wrong? Lemme see." Nalah giggles picking up my science book. I roll my eyes.
"I have midterms coming up and I understand like none of this bullshit."
"Okay, what don't you understand?" Nalah asks.
"Did you not hear me? I don't understand any of it." I pout. Nalah gives me a 'yea right' look and I shake my head.
"Maybe I get some of it but not enough to pass this exam. Ugh, why did I have to be unwillingly dumb in this subject?" I get up and walk to the fridge.
We are in the kitchen on a Saturday evening, eating snacks and working. That's what we do most weekends. Nalah works a lot and when she has time off, she spends it with me. I am soon getting a job once I finish these few classes. I doubt I'll pass this science class with a high percentage but screw it!
"Oh, cut ir out. We all have things that we're just not good at. Stop being a brat and come here so I can explain this to you." Nalah motions me over to her and I sit.
After almost two hours of studying, with the help of Nalah, I put my books away no longer upset. I am actually feeling a lor better.
"Now that that's out of the way, you want to order chinese and watch Wolf of Wall Street?" Nalah asked.
I grin super big at the sound of one of my favorite movies. I was all in for it!!
"Uh, am I human? Duh!!!" I answer, giggling. I put my hair up into a messy style and walks to my room to change unto something more comfy.
I change into some shorts and one of my bralettes that I made a while ago. I'm in school for fashion. I make most of my bras and other cute tops. I'm learning how to make other clothing which is really fun too.
I walk back into the kitchen and Nalah's fixing a bowl of fruit for us. We would save that for after we're done with our chinese. We keep fruit! I literally can eat fruit until the day that I am sent to heaven and be just fine with it. That's how much I desire fruit. I'm pretty sure Nalah's the same.
"Jai, guess who texted me this morning?" she asks me.
I walk up and take a pineapple from the top popping it right into my mouth. The refreshing sweet taste satifised my senses.
"Who?"
"Aubrey." she replies. I stop chewing my delicious pineapple and stare at Nalah.
"What is she hitting you up for?" I ask. Aubrey is Nalah's ex. The one who broke my best friend's heart a year ago. The one who cheated on Nalah with Nalah's brother.
"I...don't know. But don't look at me like that. Its not like I'm going to--"
"Take her back, right?" I finish her sentence for her. Nalah rolls her eyes and puts the fruit bowl in the fridge.
"Right. She just said hello. I said hello back. No big deal."
I reach for her phone, which was sitting next to the bowl of fruit, and goes through her texts. Nalah doesnt even try to fight for it back. The first thread was an unsaved number so I went through it. It was Aubrey trying to suck up to Nalah. I deleted the entire thread.
"Really? You know, I could've done that myself." she says.
"Yeah, you could've but I know you. You like to hold onto things, bad, harmful things." I kiss her cheek and walk to the living room.
She follows after me and we relax on the couch and start the movie while waiting for the food. My mind wandered on Aubrey and why she was hitting Nalah up. What did she want? Why was she trying to make herself relevant for like the third time? Whatever it was, I wasn't going to let it destroy Nalah. Not again.
