Z day

The Escape

Buzz Buzz Maggie's head jerks up as she awakes she had gotten a text message from her mom reading: Thank heavens you're alive i'm coming to the school to get you. I must get out of here and meet my mom Maggie thinks to her self. Maggie quickly gets out of her desk and runs over to Mrs. Brown. "Mrs. Brown i need to get out of here i'm going to leave with my mom" Maggie said excited.

"No Maggie you must stay here with the other students! We have food and water here and we can keep you safe. Now please go back to your desk and be silent like the other students." Mrs. Brown said angry.

Maggie slowly walked back to her desk she was rattled. "How could they not let me leave with my own mother this is insanity!" Maggie said under her breath.

 Maggie sat in her desk she was alone the other students beside her didn't show up at school today they must of known about this disease. an hour of silence went by most of the other students had there heads down sleeping some crying there were sniffles every few seconds, but Jimmy was awake. Maggie and Jimmy made eye contact every few seconds and soon enough Jimmy walked over and whispered "If i help you out of here will you take me with you?"

"Yes i will i promise please help me out please my mom will be here soon and if i'm not there she will leave without me" Maggie whispered worriedly.

"Mrs. Brown? excuse me Mrs. Brown." Jimmy called.

"What Jimmy?" asked Mrs. Brown.

"Can Maggie and i go for a walk? Our legs are falling asleep." Jimmy asked.

"Yes but don't be any longer then 5 minutes." Mrs. Brown said annoyed.

Maggie and Jimmy stand up and make there way to the door quietly trying there best not to wake up any of the students. They finally exit the class room quietly closing the door behind them. Jimmy mouths follow me and walks down the hall and stops out side of a janitor closet. Jimmy whispers "In here theirs a ladder to the roof we can get out that way. all i need is a pin do you have an in your hair? I can use it to pick the lock."

Maggie searches her hair and finds a small bobby pin near the back of her head, She takes it out and hands it to Jimmy smiling. Jimmy carefully slides the pin into the lock while moving it in pattern for about 3 minutes. "Lets hope this worked" Jimmy whispered into Maggie's ear.

Jimmy slowly turns the handle and the door opens! Maggie and Jimmy look at each other and smile yet say nothing they door closes behind them. Jimmy guides Maggie to the ladder, Maggie reaches for the ladder when she heard a noise it was her phone. "what was that?" Asked Jimmy.

"It was my mom she texted to say she's here one second let me tell her were on our way." Maggie said.

Maggie texts her mom quickly and shuts her phone off and places it back in her pocket. Maggie reaches her arm out and gets a grasp of the ladder slowly she climbs up one by one to the top where there is a door leading to the roof top slowly Maggie pushes it up and open. The roof is clear and the outside is silent Maggie makes her way off the ladder to the roof top with Jimmy following close. "Lets look for my mom ill head toward the front of the school you head toward the back." Said Maggie.

Maggie and Jimmy scan around the school for a while. There were no signs of life so Maggie jogs over to Jimmy. "Do you see her no signs over there?" asked Maggie.

"Nothing here either" Jimmy said worriedly.

Maggie and Jimmy both start to form tears in there eyes they lost hope when a faint buzz sounded.
