Harry and Ron were angrily discussing their thoughts about having detention that night with Professor Snape after dinner. They had gotten into an argument with Draco and Renae during Potions lesson and resulted in fifteen points being taken from Gryffindor and them having to spend detention with him.
"I'm gonna get Malfoy and his girlfriend one of these days," Harry heard Ron snarl under his breath. "It's all their fault that we have detention in the first place."
"I know they're both the two most terrible people at this school, but did you have to bring up the fact that she's a Muggleborn?" Harry disliked Draco and Renae as much as the rest of Gryffindor house, but he sees how Hermione dislikes the importance on blood status.
"All I said was if she thinks her being a Muggleborn doesn't bother Malfoy, then she's wrong." Ron didn't like that he had to bring up her blood status either, but he did have a point. It seemed strange for a Malfoy to have any interest in someone who wasn't a Pureblood.
"Let's just go before we get into more trouble with Snape." Harry sighed and headed out of the Gryffindor common room and down to the dungeons with Ron following closely behind him.
Once they reached the Potions classroom, Snape was wearing his usual sneer and was leaning against his podium. When he spoke, his voice seemed colder, which was actually surprising to Harry and Ron.
"You two are five minutes late," he spoke with a coldness that would send chills down your spine.
"Sorry, professor. We--" Harry was cut off by Snape's soft yet dominating voice.
"No excuses, Potter." Snape waved his hand and had both of the boys' wands in his hand and all of the cauldrons laid out on the tables. "Just clean the cauldrons and then leave." Without another word, he stormed into his office and slam the door.
"What the bloody hell do you suppose that was all about?" Ron asked as he started cleaning one cauldron.
Harry shrugged as he started cleaning. "No idea, but let's hurry. The sooner we finish, the sooner we can leave."
About half an hour later, Sirenia had come into the classroom and sat on the floor in front of the chalkboard while Harry and Ron watched her in confusion. Siri, of course, did notice their confused stares and chose to ignore them. The only thing that truly got her attention was Snape telling her to come into his office. Once she was inside his office, Snape gave the boys their wands back and sent them off, slamming the door once again.
"What do you think she was there for, that girl? She's in Slytherin, so it's unlikely she has detention." Ron was anxious to know why Sirenia was there.
"Who cares? Let's just go." Harry tried pushing Ron along but would barely budge.
"I dare you to ask her. Find out why she's always skulking about his office all of the time. I can bet that something off is going on between those two."
"I seriously doubt it. But if it will get you to let it go, then fine." The two went back up to Gryffindor tower talking about how lucky they were to have been sent off before they even finished half of their work. However, that night, Harry lay awake in his bed and tried to think up possibilities that would explain why Sirenia was in Snape's office.
"What exactly IS going on between a mousy Slytherin girl and someone as cruel as Snape?"
