It had been over a month since Siri's birthday, and Renae was a bit curious about her best friend's behavior. She had been speaking to Potter of all people. Renae didn't think that those two would ever get along, since she had always caught Potter and Weasley bad-mouthing Slytherin house, and she really disliked him for it. She had a similar distaste toward the two that Draco had; the only difference was that she didn't criticize someone for their blood status, considering she was a Muggleborn herself, but for the way they treated and spoke of those that she cared about. After the day was done, she decided that she was going to speak to Siri to get to the bottom of her friendship with Potter.

"Siri? I need to talk to you," Renae whispered as she pulled Siri through the crowded corridor and into an empty classroom.

"Sure, Nae. What's the problem?"

"Since when are you friends with that Potter boy? I thought we had an understanding that we would stay away from him. After all, don't forget that he had the nerve to ask whether or not something was going on between you and Professor Snape."

Siri just couldn't help but laugh and shake her head. "That's what this is about? Me talking to Harry? Don't chastise me for wanting to get to know my brother a little better."

Renae was about to say something until she heard Siri say that Harry Potter was her brother. "Since when are you related to Potter? I thought you told me that your dad and Potter's mom had stopped talking when they were teenagers. Now you're supposed to be his sister?"

Siri nodded. "Yup. And there's something else that you need to know. You cannot, under any circumstances, tell anyone. You can't even tell Draco. Do you understand?" She sounded a bit panicked, and it was kind of freaking Renae out a little bit. Either way, Renae agreed and made a motion signifying that her lips were zipped. Siri checked outside the door to make sure that there was no one in the corridor to find themselves walking in on Siri's little secret. She walked back over to her friend and rolled up her sleeve, exposing a mark resembling a skull with a snake for a tongue on her left inner forearm.

"What the bloody hell is that, Siri?!" Renae yelled, pointing to the Dark Mark. "Are you kidding me?! You're a Death Eater?! Why the hell didn't you tell me?!"

Siri rolled her eyes and cast a silencing charm on Renae. "Will you be quiet?" She sighed and made Renae sit down and sat across from her. "Listen, I'm not one by choice. You know my dad is one. Unfortunately, the Dark Lord wants me as well. It's either that or die. You swore you wouldn't tell anyone, so don't." After a few minutes, she took the charm off of Renae and stood. "Come on. I'm starving."

Renae sighed and followed Siri out of the room and to the Great Hall. She didn't speak the entire time during dinner except for the occasional saying "I'm fine" to keep people from asking more questions. Once Siri and Renae had made it to their dormitory with the rest of the fifth year Slytherin girls, Renae wrote a letter to Dumbledore, requesting to see him tomorrow before classes. She had the craziest idea ever, but she decided that she was going to join the Death Eaters in order to keep her best friend safe. Absolutely no one was going to stop her...

No one....
