As I finished up the end of the choreography for our winter recital, I suddenly remembered it's my dad's week. I inwardly groaned and rolled my eyes so far back I received a short sharp pain in my forehead.
"Everything alright, Rowan?" My best friend, Maya, asked.
"Dad's week." I replied, grabbing my dance back and putting on my sandals. From the corner of my eye I saw her nod and heard her give a sigh.
"Why do you dislike him so much?" It's a question she always asks every other week. In all honesty, I hate being with my dad because all he cares about is his work. I only have the casual 'what do you want for dinner' conversation and that's about it. I love my dad, but everything's went downhill after the split.
"I love my dad, it's just he's not very fatherly anymore. I gotta go meet my dad in his office. See ya tomorrow." I waved goodbye and walked out of my high school's dance room. I made me way to main office and drank my water.
I saw the receptionist getting ready to leave and shot her a quick smile. She's sweet but I've never really had a full conversation with her. I walked to the principal's office, or should I say my dad's office. Yup, he's our principal. I was forced to go to this high school so he could make sure I take the right path. Yeah, sure.
"Mr. Dolan, there will be no funny business here. I run my school a certain way and get everyone's respect. Now, I'm not forcing you to clean your act up, but if you don't, have fun in a juvenile school." I heard my dad's booming voice. Ugh, poor kid. He's probably not even a bad student. Like I said, my dad changed after he split from my mom. He used to be cool, now he's all strict.
I opened the door to save the poor guy form anymore yelling.
"I'll be done in a min- oh, hello, Row. Um, can you give me a minute." His voice went from loud to soft.
"So you can keep yelling at this boy? No, now please hurry. I'm hungry and have a ton of homework." I whined. I felt a stare and suddenly realized I'm just in spandex and my tank with my sports bra showing. I turned to the boy my dad referred to as 'Mr. Dolan.'
"Fair enough," My father sighed and took his glasses off. "Ethan this is my daughter, Rowan. She's in your grade and in half of your classes. I'll have her show you around tomorrow. Now, remember what I said. Have a good evening." The kid, now I know as Ethan, got up and left. But before he exited, he stopped and gave me a smirk. Oh, great.
I rolled my eyes, yet again. My dad gathered his things and began to lock up as I waited outside with my arms crossed. We began to walk towards the car in silence. He began to ask me what I wanted to eat and I simply responded with 'pizza.' The ride was silent as well and he picked up the pizza from the place.
I was scrolling through my Instagram feed until we finally reached home at 7 pm. My dad opened the garage and once the care was parked, I walked inside. I went upstairs to my room and grabbed some pajamas. I quickly got ready to shower. I took a twenty minute shower, as per usual. My mind started to wander to the Ethan.
He was good looking, but seemed a little to jerkish to me. Maybe he is a bad kid. I got dressed, put on my glasses, and put my up in a bun to let it some what dry. I went downstairs to grab some pizza and began my homework as I ate. I had a desk in my room, but I liked being out here sometimes.
"That kid has a bad reputation, Rowan. If he pressures you in anyway, let me know and that kid will be out of here." My dad rolled his eyes.
"If you didn't want me to be pressured my him why would you make me give him a tour? But okay, what if he's a good guy. Looks can be deceiving." I took another bit of my pizza. I wrote down an answer for my chemistry homework.
"I feel like you'd be a good influence on him. Um, Row?"
I looked up at my dad, "yeah?"
"Promise me no matter what, you'll still come and talk to me? You know about school, friendships, maybe even boyfriends?""Oh. Uh, sure." I was confused as to why he'd ask that.
"I really hope we can have our relationship like we used to." He smiled before walking upstairs to go take a shower.
That was weird. Maybe he's changing back. Maybe him and mom will- oh, who am I kidding. I'm not five, the fantasies of my mom and dad getting back together is long gone. It's been two years. I put my headphones in and continued with my homework....
5 hours of homework later, I finally got to sleep. It was 1 am and I was tired.
I know what I came to do and that ain't gonna change..
Focus by Ariana Grande blasted from my phone. My alarm, ugh. It was 6:50 am and I dreaded to leave my warm bed. I got up, put my glasses on, and went to my walk in closest.I grabbed black bullhead skinnies, a beige halter top, and a jean jacket. I changed and picked out black socks and slipped on my black combat boots. I went out onto my vanity and turned on my straightener. I let my hair out of its bun and noticed my hair was wavy. I liked it so only straightened the really bumpy parts of my hair.
I applied some BB crème, powder, bronzer, shaped my eyebrows just a bit, and put some pink sparkly lipgloss. Not that little kid pink though. I grabbed my bad and went to eat breakfast.
I grabbed a bowl and filled it with Cocoa Pebbles and milk. After finishing my breakfast, I went back upstairs to my bathroom and brushed my teeth. I put in my contacts and got ready to leave. I grabbed my keys and went to my car.
The only days I don't use my car is when I'm with my mom because she's all about bonding. As I neared school I realized I was showing Ethan around today... Yay.
A/N hi hey hello! First story, let me know if it's starting okay 🙈 IT GETS BETTER I SWEAR
