Warning:it's pretty sad yo...and some Ocarina of Time spoilers
Link had discovered that Sheik was Zelda in disguise before Zelda got captured by Ganondorf. You knew fate wouldn't be kind to you at Ganondorf's castle but followed Link there anyway. It hurt to do this to Link, but you had to make sure Ganondorf was defeated and Hyrule was saved. After that, he'd have a princess to look after him. Or he could marry Ruto.
Your fate was to die protecting Link in his final battle with Ganondorf,a fate that you had come to accept.
As you drew closer to Ganondorf's room, you felt compelled to do something to Link so you said whatever came to mind first.
"You've grown a ton from that little Kokiri boy that Mido picked on." you blurted.
"You've grown a lot from the young thief girl" Link replied.
"Promise me you won't ever give up. Ever." you requested.
"Promise" Link responded. The two of you continued on in silence.
Soon enough you reached Ganondorf's room.The battle began. When Link turned his back, Ganondorf attempted a cowardly blow.
"Look out!" you yelled as you took the hit for Link. You coughed, feeling your lungs struggle for air.
"Y/N)!" Link called.
"K-Keep fighting!" you coughed out with difficulty.
Link continued to fight and brought Ganondorf down. He hurried to you and held you close.
"(Y/N), I'm sorry. I'm so sorry" Link mumbled. You weakly smiled.
"I-I should've t-told you. I-it was fate. Y-you'll b-be okay. Z-Zelda o-or R-Ruto will look after y-you." you managed to wheeze out, growing weaker by the moment.
"Don't go. Don't do this to me. Please stay with me (Y/N). Please, please stay with me" Link whispered.
"Y-you'll b-be o-okay." (Y/N) said before placing a hand on his cheek, soon after falling limp.
-Timeskip to after defeating Ganon brought to you by the Song of Time-
"Hand me the Ocarina. As a Sage, I can return you to your original time" Zelda told Link who simply nodded and handed her the Ocarina. He felt himself getting drifted back through time. He looked around realizing he was in the Temple of Time. Then he saw her. (Y/N), as beautiful as ever, looking at him expectantly. He hurried over and hugged her. She hugged back slowly due to her confusion.
"Y-you're okay!" he said
"Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?" (Y/N) questioned, confused.
"Uh, no reason. Let's go home." Link replied. (Y/N) shrugged.
"Alright."
Things were perfect in Hyrule, at least to Link.
