"Ara... s-stop it."
"I-It hurts..."
"Ara, l-let go of my hand!"
Aralim ignored Conah's complaints and kept running along the path, occasionally bumping into others. He gripped Conah's hand tightly so he could pull him along quickly. Conah continued to protest, to no avail.
"A-Atleast tell me where we are going!"
Now, that, Aralim could answer. "To this new and awesome store that just opened in the mall!" Conah hoped with all his might that this new store wasn't on the second floor. If it was, he would insist on using the stairs.
Aralim made his way through a few crowds and rushed over to the elevator. "No." Conah said. "We can walk."
"Nah, it'll be fine! Trust me!" And with that, Aralim grabbed Conah's hand once again and pulled him into the elevator. Conah moved to the corner and gripped the railing with all his might. Fear had flooded his head. He could barely think straight.
Aralim turned his attention to Conah. He was shaking, and his breathing wasn't steady. Which made Aralim instantly feel regret for dragging Conah into the situation. He decided to comfort his friend as much as he could.
"Hey, we're just going up one floor, okay?"
No response.
"We're gonna be fine, okay?"
No response.
"D-Damnit, Conah, you're making me freak out! Just..." He sighed. "We aren't gonna die, I promise. I'm your knight in shining armor. I'll protect you, okay?"
Aralim searched Conah's expression for any kind of response. He beamed when Conah nodded ever-so-slightly. Conah quickly let go of the railing and instead, held onto Aralim. Aralim chuckled as he felt the elevator start moving upwards.
