After 1 and ½ hours of my friends setting up (me doing absolutely nothing in my dorm) they come and retrieve me. They blind fold me and guide me down the stairs, round corners and into the hall.
As they take off my blind fold my stomach churns at what my eyes will see. Whether or not it will look like the living room or actually half decent.
My blind fold comes off and my jaw hits the floor. The place is amazing! The streamers are everywhere, balloons dangle from the ceiling with stars hanging off every couple of balloons. A banner in the dead centre of the hall reads “Happy 17th Birthday Billee”. I almost cry at the amazing job my friends have done “I love you guys! You are amazing! You have done an amazing job!” I say so filled with excitement my words begin to blend into each other. We all smile and hug for around 2 mins.
“You better get ready the party starts in 1 and a half hours” says my mum. We all drop our jaws and bolt upstairs all except James who is not all that bothered.
When we reach our dorm everyone scatters. To the en suite, closets and beds. I head straight for the en suite to do my hair. I toss up about 6 different ways to have my hair. I finally settle on 1. As I grab my curling iron and start heating it up 3 other people enter the bathroom. “Really? How are we all going to fit in here?” I ask, my friends look at me puzzled. They grab their makeup bags, strainers and curling irons and run out the door.
When they leave I lock the door and jump straight into the shower. When I am in the shower 4 people knock on the door asking for entrance. “NO! When I’m out of the shower you can come in!” I scream. They sigh so loudly that I can hear them through the door and the running water.
When I am done I chuck on my robe and un-lock the door. I dry my hair trying not to hit anyone else in the process.
When that is done I begin curling my hair. 1 strip at a time. It take me about 7 minutes all together but I am happy with the end result. I cover it in hairspray to make sure it stays. I continue the process of hair doing, by using the front part of my curls on each side of my face and pinning it back out of my face on the side of my head.
I then get my make-up bag and begin to apply it. Foundation, then blush, then eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara then finally lip stick.
When my makeup is fine and I am happy with it I get my amazing dress. I slide it on and gaze in the mirror. “Wow! Seriously how did we find such amazing dresses?” I ask although no-one replies. I put on my jewellery earrings, a necklace that I received this morning and a bracelet. The final step towards getting myself together is the mask and the shoes.
I put on my black, sparkly mask and tie it at the back of my head. I run to my closet and grab my favourite pair of black heeled flats. They are a silky leather with about and inch heel. I put them on my feet and head to the mirror.
I stand there in awe. I look really nice. I look at the clock and see I have 10 minutes to spare. So I sit on my bed and think about the whole mate situation.
I know that my dad has declared that I must get a mate. There is no-one in this pack that I have any feelings for but I’m not quite sure about our ally pack. The Topaz Flame pack. I am not sure about any of their available mates but any way.
“So Billee whatcha thinking ‘bout?’ asks a now ready Moni. “Oh nothing much. Just the whole mate situation.” She nods. “Do you have any ideas on who yet?” she continues, now sitting by my side. “Nope. No-one from our pack. Not to sure about The Topaz Flame pack. Dad invited them.” She looks a little surprised at this. “Well you choose who you want. No-one can choose for you and no-one can force you” that is where she is wrong.
