LUKE'S POV
"I'm serious, Luke, you have to ditch him."
I look at her in surprise. "Arzaylea, he's my best friend He's the only one who's always been there for me."
She rolls her eyes and pauses, trying to think of a comeback.
"Yeah, well, I just don't want him getting in the way of—"
I laugh out loud, cutting her off. "Do you seriously think that my best friend is going to get in the way of my relationship is you? You're the one that loves me."
I'm careful not to add that I love her, because... I don't.
She snorts, checking her nails. "Yeah. I'm not the only one that loves you out of the two of us."
I stiffen, rubbing a hand on the back of my neck. "What's that supposed to mean?"
She just shrugs, pouting when she accidentally chips a nail.
"Whatever. I'm not ditching Mikey. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have dinner to get to."
I stand up, lightly kissing Arzaylea on the cheek, and go out to my car.
I drive to Michael's, parking out front and walking in.
MICHAEL'S POV
Luke walks in, and I can automatically see that something's wrong.
"Hey, Mikey." he says quietly, sitting down next to me.
"Hi, Luke, what's the matter?"
"What? Nothing."
I raise my eyebrows. "I can tell something's wrong."
"Really. It's nothing. Nothing you need to worry about."
I casually sling my arm around his shoulder.
"Dude. I'm actually worried about you right now."
He sighs. "Arzaylea—"
"That bitch." I mutter under my breath.
He shoots me a look. " 'That bitch' is my girlfriend, and I lo— she loves me."
"Please continue, I wish to know what she's done this time to piss you off."
He rolls his eyes. "Fine. Arzaylea keeps telling me that I should ditch you. She thinks your getting in the way of my relationship with her."
I look at him, smirking. "Well, I mean..."
He gives me another look. "Okay, whatever. Seriously, shut up."
I grin and kiss his cheek. "Sorry."
"You wanna know something else?"
"Shoot."
"She reckons that you..."
"That I what?"
"She reckons you love me. As more than a best friend."
I stiffen and pull my arm away from him.
"You okay?" Now he's the one to sound concerned.
I try to laugh it off. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine! Why would she even say that? Does she know about... you know?"
He sighs and rubs the back of his neck, a nervous habit of his.
"I hope not."
LUKE'S POV
After an awkward dinner at Michael's, I go back home and sit on my porch for what feels like hours. I follow some fan accounts on Twitter, text a bit with Ashton, and work a bit on writing some new songs, but mainly, I just scroll through pictures of me and Michael.
At first glance, you would never know he's gay.
I didn't even know he was gay until about a year ago, when he kissed me for the first time.
Arzaylea and I had just had one of our huge arguments. We've been dating since about 2 years before then. I thought we were going to break up for good, and Michael was comforting me. It just sort of happened... One minute he had his arms around me, as I was falling asleep, then I felt his lips on my cheek, and then when I didn't stop him, he moved to my lips.
That woke me up, and I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night, because I realized... I liked it.
So yeah. Ever since, whenever we had some time and no one else was around, we would kiss. Nothing more. And none of it means anything. At least, not to me. I mean... I have a girlfriend. And I always have insecurities about what people think of me. Coming out as gay to the fans... no joke, I would kill myself from the stress.
