Chapter: 4

*Miki's P.O.V.*

I was walking along the sidewalks of the city, and watched as people passed me by. It seemed like no one knew who I really was. Even if they did they all just continued to walk pass.

Then I heard my name. "Miki! Hey!"

I looked up to see Max. "Hey... Max."

He approached me slowly. "Is something wrong? You don't look very happy to see me."

"I met him."

There was a pause then he spoke.

"Phantomhive?"

I nodded. "But-"

"Miki, you don't like him do you?"

"I- I don't know yet."

"You don't know!?! He killed your mother! You're going to fall for the guy, who killed your mother?"

"Max! You knew how I felt about it anyways! She kept me away from him for all these years."

"But Miki. You can't love him though! He-"

"Max, you only think that because you love me. He is my betrothed and you need to just give up on me. Why can't you just get that through your head?"

"Because we've known each other since we were kids, and you just met him. Why can't you just return my feelings?"

"Because I never felt the same way."

Max went wide eyed. "Okay then. I see." He turned and started to walk away.

"Max, wait!" I reached out to grab his hand, but he pulled away.

"Don't try to make amends now. Other people's feelings obviously don't matter to you, so just forget about mine."

And with that he disappeared into the crowd of people.

"Max..." Tears swelled in my eyes.

"Come Mistress, you have been away long enough." Madison picked me up, and we headed back to the manor.

I fell asleep, as my light weeping silenced.

*Back at the manor*

*Ciel's P.O.V*

Sebastian and I were in front of the front door, waiting for Madison to return with Miki.

"Master, calm down. She will be fine. The mistress is fully capable of taking care of herself."

"I am fully aware of that Sebastian. Can I not just wait for my betrothed to return?"

"Of course, master. Would you like me-"

"Yes, leave me."

Sebastian bowed and left.

"Damn it. How could I have let her out of my sight...?"

"Young Master?"

I turned to see Madison.

"Where is she?"

"My mistress is resting in her bedroom. As we were returning she said that you may come whenever you please to see her, only due to her most recent heartbreak."

"Heartbreak?"

Madison nodded. "Would you like to go see her?"

I nodded. "Yes, let's go."

Madison nodded and started to walk off. I followed close behind.

*In Miki's Bedroom*

*Miki's P.O.V.*

I was laying in my bed face down on my pillow when a knock came from the door.

"What?!?" My voice was muffled by the pillow.

"Mistress? Lord Phantomhive is here to-"

"Yes. Yes. Just let him in." I heard the door open and close then light footsteps approached my bed.

"Miki. What is the meaning of this, heartbreak, I'm hearing of?"

"It's nothing for you to worry about Ciel. It's in the past." I continued to lay against my pillow.

Then I felt arms wrap around me and I was turned over. Ciel was on top of me staring down.

"Look Miki. You are mine. You are betrothed to me. Do you understand?" His gaze hardened.

Tears swelled in my eyes.

"Hey, what's wrong? I-I didn't mean to scare you." Ciel worriedly looked at me.

I shook my head. "N-No. I'm fine. It's just nice to know someone cares about me somewhat."

"Yeah, of course I care. My duty is to make you happy no matter what."

Silence fell between Ciel and I. He suddenly closed the space between us and kissed me.

I was surprised at first then I settled and kissed him back.

Then a knock came from the door.

Ciel quietly rolled off me.

"Y-Yes?" I called out.

"Young Master, mistress. Dinner is ready." Madison called out from behind the door.

"Um, we will be there in a second." Ciel got up as I spoke.

"We will wait." We then heard slight footsteps.

I exhaled heavily and looked over at Ciel.

"Well, are you coming to dinner or not?"

I stood up and walked over to him. "I am." I kissed his cheek. "But we're not done here." I winked at him then opened the door.

Ciel shook his head and followed after me.
