Wooden Eyes

Her eyes that were once a full brownie color,
They're now a hard wooden tree.
They will no longer see into me,
They see pass me.
I see her laying on a hill watching the stars,
As I look out my window at night.
I hear her soft voice singing a song
With the wind.
They harmonize the perfect pitch,
A sweet lullaby so I fall asleep.
That is exactly what I do,
But I'd rather be awake.
So I can watch her tears fall from her
Wooden eyes.
I still wish I could run to her and hold her,
So her wooden eyes will turn back into brownies.
But I can't,
'Cause I am the reason she is crying.
I hurt her and I once saw the pain in her chocolate eyes.
She wished to never see me again,
I only granted that wish 'cause I knew.
I knew if I were to go back it would only be worse.
No matter if her eyes are trees or coco
I will always wish to see them
eye to eye.
