August Alsina

When I got ta my crib I saw dat Paul was already waitin on me so I hurried and got myself out and da girl be'foe going ta unlock da doe. By dis time she had stopped cryin'. Na she seemed ta wanna cooperate. Paul was right behind us as I unlocked da doe an' went.

We made our way to my living room sitting on separate pieces of furniture. I sat, legs wide open wit' my elbows on my knees. Er'body jus stared at each otha' be'foe Paul decided it was time fa him ta speak.

"Did you explain to her?"

"Na, I'a let chu' do dat pot'na."

He turned ta da girl and spoke causing her to flinch and shift in da chair she was sitting in. "Well for starters what's your name?"

"Kassandra." She mumbled.

"Well Kassandra, I'm officer Paul Williams and this here is a friend of mine, August. Now I know what happened to you just like the rest. I wanna let you kno-" She cut him off.

"How old am I now? Do you know?" I furrowed my eyebrows. It was dat bad ta da point she'on eean know ha age.

"Um, I believe you're 19. Its been 8 years since you were pronounced missing by someone by the name of Mack who informed me that you were around the age of 11 years old when you were sold. Now do you remember who sold you?"

"My mother." She whispered starting to cry.

"I'm letting you know now, I will get you help. I'm also in the process of helping the rest of the girls in with you. For now August is kind enough to let you stay here. He's gonna take care of you very well. Tomorrow you're gonna go shopping for new clothes and then you'll go to the authorities for more clarification on your identity."

She nodded her head. "Thank you."

"Very much welcome. Now August do you have any questions?"

"Nah man. I'm coo'."

"Okay well I'll be on my way. I'll see myself out."

"Ight bruh, stay safe." He nodded be'foe walking out leaving me an' Kassandra.

It was an awkward silence. A long ass awkward silence. I ain't wanna make ha feel uncomfortable so I eased my questions on ha.

"You need sum'n?" She shook ha head at my question. "Ight well I'on really like people lounging on my couch so I set up one's da guest rooms fa ya. When ya ready gone 'head on in dea'. We'a go getcha stuff ta'marrow." One again da girl ain't talk. She jus nodded.

"I'ma leave you out some stuff to change into afta' yo shower. Its a baf'room inna room you staying in."

"Thank you." I nodded in response.

I stood up an' made sure the house was locked up. When I was done I made my way upstairs ta get ready fa some much needed rest. It was only around 9 but I was tired as hell.

Be'foe getting in da bed I pulled out a pair'a sweats, a tank top, and opened up a new pack'a boxer briefs pulling out the black pair. I walked down da hall and went in da guest room putting the stuff in the conjoined bathroom. After making sure she had soap and towels I went back into my room and passed out.

Kassandra K.

After he left me all alone in the living room I decided to look around his house to get used to my new surroundings. Most of the things he had were black, leather, or some other bland material. You could tell a man had decorated. I slowly stepped in the kitchen going straight to the sliding door that led to the patio. I looked through it taking everything in before turning on my right heel going in the direction of the many stairs his house contained.

Walking into the bathroom connected to the guest room, I saw that he'd left out all the things is need for a shower. I locked the door, stepping out of my clothes. I made sure the water was a nice temperature and stepped in. I washed every particle of dirt from my body. I was so thankful to be able to shower alone and thouroughly.

When i was done I sat in the darkness of the room he'd been kind enough to let me stay in, crying softly. It was crazy to me that after all that time, 2,920 some days to be exact, I was finally free. The light of day had never looked so good to me. I cried the whole way here thinking this man was going to use me as a sex slave but he didn't dare. Instead, he helped me be free. The man upstairs was finally answering my prayers.

Staring out the window, I watched as the stars danced through the navy blue looking sky. It was simple things like this that were completely foreign to me. It was hard to believe that I'd missed out on so much in life. Mind you that this was all caused because my mother wanted a quick $10 fix. I was pained to know that that was all I'm worth. There have been plenty of times where I wanted to stop breathing.... end all suffering. I wasn't worthy of walking a place as beautiful but messed up as earth.

Erghhhhh....

My stomach rumbled interupting me from my thoughts. That had reminded me, I hadn't ate in days. Us girls were never fed and when we were the portions weren't even enough to satisfy a newborn baby. Half the women got so sick from being starved, they died.

I was so hungry and wanted to eat. I thought about going into the kitchen to get something but I didn't want to get caught by him. I probably wasn't allowed to be eating his food.

Pushing all thoughts of food away, I climbed under the covers and turned on my side. Before I let my head hit the pillow I said a quick prayer.

"God, I'm asking you to continue to watch over me. Protect me like I know you can. Excuse all hurt, harm, and danger from my life and surround me with nothing but the possibilities of love. In your name I pray, amen."

Dropping my head on the pillow I came to a conclusion. I'll just sleep the hunger away.

Shall I continue?
