The Silence of Revenge – Chapter 4 (Fairy Tail Fan Fiction)

         ~ 1 week later ~

Could this really be what her life was going to be like now? An endless cycle of day after day going in and out of the guildhall not knowing what do to except sit at one of the tables that were empty and stare longingly at the request board. She wanted to take a job, but part of her was hesitant to, because that was kind of like an oath to this new life. Also, part of her was scared. As much as that hurt her to admit it, but she was truly terrified that some other assassins would find her before she could—

Suddenly, a certain preppy blonde sat herself down in front of Celena who had been sitting alone at a table nestled away from the constant bustle of the guild. "Hey, Celena!" the blonde exclaimed cheerfully, adjusting the straps of her pink, ribbon accented tank-top as she sent the Take-Over mage a small wave. "I'm not sure if you remember my name, but I'm Lucy. I was actually wondering if you wanted to go on a job with me! What do you say? You up for it?"

Celena raised an eyebrow, looking over the other girl skeptically. "Just us?" she inquired, trying not to sound too reluctant. It wasn't that she held any grudge or negative feelings toward Lucy, but the Celestial Mage was known to get herself caught, and Celena didn't want to be hindered by a drawback like that.

Lucy laughed. "Of course not! Natsu and the others—Gray, Happy, and Erza—will be coming, too! Wendy and Carla might even decide to join us, too, unless they're already going alone on something—or maybe they're going with Romeo. Those three have been taking a lot of job together, lately."

Sighing through her nose, Celena rose to her feet and slowly walked up to the request board, her eyes scanning over the pallid slips of paper that decorated its wooden surface as she went. Stopping in front of it, she quickly pulled a request from the board that offered a 2 million Jewel reward. Spinning on her heels, she headed back to where Lucy sat, staring at her nails in silence. Sitting back down, she slid the paper over to Lucy, who seemed almost surprised that she'd returned.

"You're back!" she exclaimed, gleefully. Sending Celena an encouraging smile, the blonde swiftly read over the request, before her mouth fell open in disbelief. "Did you even read this over first before you grabbed it?!"

"No," Celena stated, bluntly. "Is there a problem?"

Lucy rubbed at her forehead and took deep breaths like she was afraid she was going to faint. "They're requesting that someone go wander around some caves in the North in hopes of finding some large 'demon' that uses magic that this person describes as 'hellfire'. Apparently there's all sort of other stuff in these caves, and it's like a complete maze. If you get lost, you're more than likely going to be dead." Sighing, she pushed the paper back toward Celena. "I don't know. It seems a little—"

"AWESOME!" came a sudden loud voice next to them.

Looking over, Celena saw a very excited looking Natsu sauntering toward them. He was smiling widely; his vest was open, casually falling off one of his shoulders—exposing his chest more that it already was. Celena tried not to stare at the light skin of his toned abdomen, but she couldn't help it, her eyes seemed to wander there all on their own.

Running a hand through his spiky, pink hair, Natsu seated himself next to Lucy. "I'm up for some serious action!" he exclaimed, grinning devilishly. "And that job sounds like it will be a challenge, so I'm game!! Let's go kick some demon-monster butt!"
