There are some days where all I wish I could do is look at everyone in my hectic family and simply tell them to calm down.

My house had erupted into chaos as the Bloodstone pack, the pack my family built from the ground up, prepared for the extravaganza being thrown tonight in honor of my twin brothers' 24th birthday which happened to land on Valentine's Day

The kitchen was packed to the brim with dirty dishes and eager children, begging their underappreciated mothers for the chance to lick the spoon of any of the desserts. It was obvious on the mothers' faces that sugar was the last thing they were going to feed their children tonight.

Unfortunately, I walked in on one of my aunts screaming at my cousins to clean up after themselves. I sneakily tried to not make myself heard while escaping the situation at hand, but it was too late. The wicked Vicky had caught sight of my pale skin and I knew there would be hell to pay.

"Uh-hem," shrieked my mother's twin sister Vicky, "Where do you think you are off to, young lady? Your mother has been looking for you all day. In fact, she has been so fanatically worried about you that I have been left with all of the work!"

'Fanatically, Vicky. Wow. When did you learn big words?' I thought to myself slyly as I put on an apologetic face and replied to the eye bags engraving themselves on my aunt's face.

"Sorry, Aunt Vicky. I was sitting on the porch, finishing up on homework. I didn't know my mom was looking for me."

She gave me a look that told me she knew I was lying about the homework, but furthermore, she said, "It's fine, Emilia. Just please go talk to your mother. Vivian has got herself all worked up over you."

Hastily, I went on the search around my family's main pack house to find my mother. I figured she would be sitting on my bed, waiting for me so that is where I went first.

"Emilia! Emilia! Where have you been?" shouted my mother as she cupped the excess fat on my cheeks and kissed them simultaneously. Before I could respond, she excitedly continued, "Doesn't matter. You are here now and darling, we have a party tonight!"

'Since when?' I thought sarcastically as I watched my mother's drawn-on eyebrows peak up with a new idea.

'Please don't say it. Please don't say it.' I thought to myself hopefully.

"Why! At this kind of party, you might even meet your mate, Emilia!" My mom delighted as she let go of my cheeks and started towards my wardrobe, clapping her hands excitedly.

As I finally began to regain the feeling in my cheeks, I silently wished that my mate did come to the party tonight. He's the only way out of this chaotic house of mine.

Alexei watched as all of his friends received lap dances from strippers. He could not bring himself to participate. It has never been his thing to get with a woman with no intention of staying with her for the long run.

When Alexei was 16 years old, living in Russia, he quickly became attracted to a lovely girl by the name of Katja. She was from Germany and he found her accent to be breathtaking. Everything about Katja drove him ballistic, in a good way. He would show up to school early because he knew Katja had ballet lessons before her first hour. He would sit and wait, hoping that she would notice him one day.

It hurt him when Katja failed to notice him day after day. He became bored of trying. The early mornings had become less exciting every day. His hope for Katja to reciprocate his love had diminished. Alexei decided that girls were not all that important anyhow. He vowed that the only woman who actually deserved his time and was worthy of his attention would be his future mate.
