RECAP FROM LAST CHAPTER:

"Where are we going?" I slurred out as I rubbed my eyes with my hands.

Still carrying me, Yuri headed down the huge hill that the pack house resides on. He answered my question with a smirk and replied back, "There has been a change in plans. Your mate wants to leave now."

CHAPTER 6:

After insisting that I was sober enough to walk on my own, Yuri finally put me down onto the ground. The weight from my body initially caused me to almost fall, which earned me a very strong, 'I told you so' look from Yuri. I crossed my arms over my chest in stubbornness as I motioned for him not to say a word and keep walking.

Following behind him, the walk started to feel like it was taking forever and I eventually figured out that Yuri was leading me towards the boundaries of my pack.

My drunken state had allowed me to forget that I was leaving my whole life behind for my mate who was apparently not even going to grant me the opportunity to say goodbye to my family and friends. I held my arms across my chest even tighter through pure coldness and now, bitterness.

'How could he not let me say goodbye?' I thought internally as tears brimmed my eyes. I quickly fought the urge to cry again because there was no way I was going to let these people see me hurt.

Coming upon two black SUVs, Yuri started walking even faster to reach it. I was having difficulty keeping up with him due to my short legs and high heels. I was already walking like a dinosaur in heels as a result of the alcohol. However, I am now sure that I looked absolutely crazy, trying to match Yuri's pace.

"Yuri, I hope for your sake you came straight here and did not take any detours with her," A tall and rugged looking man cautioned to Yuri as he moved even closer and quietly said, "Alexei is pissed enough that you went instead of Sasha to get her."

Confused with who Sasha was and who was speaking, I bit my lip in response to Alexei being mad again. Maybe, it was not a good idea to get drunk when he clearly said that I would not be drinking tonight.

'Oops,' I shrugged to myself nervously as Yuri filled the awkward tension in the air by responding to the worried man.

"Sergei, I may not be the smartest out of all of us here, but I know how to stay alive. I did not try anything. The lady can vouch for me," Yuri smiled easily as he nudged my uptight stature with his easy going elbow.

I was startled at first by Yuri's elbow because I was contemplating who Sergei was to Alexei. If I had to guess, I would say he is one of his most trusted pack members since the concern on Sergei's face is apparent, which means he really cares about Alexei. I was analyzing Sergei even further when his mouth opened to speak again.

Looking straight into my soul with his dark brown eyes, Sergei introduced himself to me and confirmed my prediction. "Hello, I'm Sergei, the beta," He said proudly as he reached out his hand, waiting for a handshake.

Uncrossing my arms and shifting my weight, I moved my hand to clasp his and shook it calmly. "Nice to meet you, Sergei," I smiled before continuing with, "I'm Emilia."

"And I'm Yuri!" Yuri shouted childishly as he placed one arm around Sergei's shoulder and the other around mine.

From the outburst of Yuri, several other prominent and tough looking men came out from behind the SUVs. I recognized one of them as Nicolai, but all of the others I did not know.

One of them bluntly responded to Yuri, "Shut the fuck up, Yuri. Unfortunately, we all know who you are."

Just as fast as the remark came out of his mouth, all nine of the other boys heads' snapped towards the guy who said that. I was confused by what was going on until another one responded in a hushed tone, "Micah, there is a lady around. Don't speak like that." I think they were all hoping I didn't hear the exchange that was going on between them, but I was hearing all of it with a smug look on my face.
