Prologue

Tears streamed down my face as I looked at my father. More like my father's casket.

Apparently when he went out to do some emergency for his job, he was attacked by wolves. They couldn't even let his family see the gruesome sight of him.

I shivered at the thought him screaming as wolves' clawed him everywhere. I'm now terrified of wolves.

I officially had no one now, I was left alone with the step-witch and her son.

My mother died giving birth to me, my older brother disappeared when I was three, and now my dad was attacked and killed.

I felt a cold hand grip my shoulder tightly, causing me to yelp in pain.

"Now, now Lucy. Take in what happen. Your father was a great man, he died doing his job. So suck it up and quit making a scene." She hissed.

I looked around to see about fifty or so people. Most of them live with us in a huge house for some reason, some lived in small houses by us.

Most of the shot me pitiful looks, others sympathy.

Linda, the step witch, tugged my shoulder. "Come, we need to make some arrangements for you."

"Why?"

Linda looked at me with her eyes narrowed. She leaned down to my height, "Listen here Lucy." She put venom in my name. "Your father loved you, but that doesn't mean I do. I have to take over this pa- His job until Will can do it for me. But we need you to stay out of our way." She gripped my arm, digging her nails into my skin.

I yelped again.

I looked around to see people coming towards us before Linda came to a holt and looked at them with a look of pure rage. They stopped and bowed their heads.

I looked at them confused before I was dragged into the house. Mason, Linda's son, was giving his mother strange looks.

"Mom, what are you doing?"

"Shut up Mason and help me with this piece of shit." She growled.

I don't mean like she snarled or growled, but I mean it actually sounded like an animal. I shrunk back, "Please Linda. I promise i'll stay out of your way! Don't hurt me!"

I heard her chuckle, "Oh sweetheart. You can't promise anything until you shift-I mean you turn 18."

"B-but i'm only eight now... That's ten years.."

She rolled her eyes, "Wow. Great at math too."

I gulped, "Please.."

She gave me a wicked grin, "Welcome to hell."

I didn't realized she had brought me down to the basement until I was thrown on the cold, hard floor. I started to cry as everything was pure darkness. "LINDA! PLEASE! I'LL DO ANYTHING."

I heard her cold-hearted laugh again, "I'm sorry Lucy. Just be glad that I didn't kill you."

I heard a door slam shut before I couldn't even beg her once again. I started to wail, to grabbed anyone's attention but no one came.

I curled in a ball and started to cry silently. I was officially alone. Not even Linda would ever love me. Everyone who loved me, cared for me, are gone.

After a few hours of sitting there crying, I manage to search around the basement and found a light switch  It was actually not that scary.

It was a small room with an old heater, I saw a mattress in the corner, a bucket in another corner. I frowned as I realized Linda was going to make me live here.

The door creaked open, making me jump. I turned to see Mason there. Mason was ten, making him two years older then me. He had shaggy blond hair and bright blue eyes. All my other friends thought he was really cute, but he was my step-brother so I couldn't see it.

My eyes widened as I was about to ask him why he was here, but he covered my mouth.

"Sh! Lucy I need to tell you something before my mother tells you otherwise okay?" I nodded my head. He let his hand drop. "Lucy, your going to be my mother maid for a while okay?" I frowned.

"Why?"

"Because she's now Alph- I mean, she's in charge of you now and you just have to listen to her and nothing really bad should happen to you okay?" I nodded slowly. "When my mom's around, i'm going to have to be mean to you, so i'm saying sorry now. I really don't want to do it but my moms making me."

"Why?" I asked again.

He sighed and gave me a hug, "I'm sorry lucy. I'll bring you some good food, blankets, and clothes when I can."

I buried my face in his chest, "Don't go.. Please?"

I squeezed me tighter and kissed my temple, "I have to Lu. I promise I won't let anything bad happen to you. Okay?" I nodded as tears dripped down me face. He took a step back and gave me a sad smile. "It will be okay. I love you Lucy, your the best little sister."

I gave him a small smile, "Thanks for being such a nice brother. I love you too."

He smiled and hugged me again before rushing out the door without another word. I turned back to the mattress and ran to it. I gripped the small pillow and hugged it close to my body as tears, again, came out.

Ten years worth of being that witch's slave. She's going to make Mason mean to me! I cried into the pillow silently.

Why did you have to go dad? Why!
