The Send Off

ANYA’S POV

 “Anya what are you sulking about?” my brother’s distinct blue eyes look searchingly at me

I didn’t look back into his eyes because I don’t want him to see the sadness in it

“Nothing much. You know just thinking..?” I answered him while looking up at the clear blue sky

We are currently in the gardens, we consider it as our sanctuary in the palace.

“You don’t look convincing at all though. I know it’s about me leaving tomorrow.” He muttered under his breath while gazing at me

“It will be the first time for us to be away with each other after all” I said playfully trying to hide the sorrow in it. I don’t want him to be guilty because that will distract him on his mission.

“Well..it seems that I have a clingy sister.” He ruffled my hair and flashed his arrogant smile at me

“Meanwhile I have a bully as my brother.”  I let out a heavy sigh and I met his eyes for the first time this morning and there was an awkward silence after that

 

 

“I will miss you Anya. Don’t worry I will go back as soon as I can.” He hugged me while he kissed my forehead tenderly, on that moment everything was a blur and it was just me and my brother

 

 

The day of the Military campaign send off

 

“Dedicated and noble soldiers of Rustdo, I entrust to you the responsibility of honoring and blessing our country from now on. The fact that you were able to graduate from the military school and survived is such an accomplishment already that an ordinary man can never do. That is why I expect a lot from each and every one of you. My son, Prince Elixir will also be among your midst and he would be a commander of one of the squads. With that I bless you with your mission!”

 

Elixir was wearing the same uniform as the other soldiers but with a distinct pin attached on one of its collars that signifies that he is a royalty. He was also lined up together with them and was blending well. The soldiers on the other hand are stealing glances on the prince from time to time.

After the speech, the soldiers were given a time to say their goodbyes with their love ones.

Elixir walked over to the throne which caught curious glances from the crowd.

“My son, I can’t still believe that I’m letting you go.” The Queen whispered and hugged his son while tears forming in his eyes

“My queen, he will be home soon enough.” The King smiled proudly and hugged his son too

Anya only watched this sight, out of words to tell to his brother. Elixir noticed this and broke the hug from his parents and went over to his sister who looks like she was about to cry.

“Come back soon..okay”  that was the only words that escaped from her mouth

“I will bring home souvenirs too.” Elixir said with a straight face while he kissed her in the cheek

“Stupid you’re going to a military campaign not a tour.” Anya muttered, all her worries and fears gone

 

 Dear diary,

 

Today, brother left the palace for his duty for the military. I would really miss him and I hope he comes back soon. I would feel really lonely now that he is not around anymore.
