CHAPTER FIVE : CARNIVAL PART 2
PERCY'S POV
"We're finally here!" Percy screamed while jumping out of the van with all of his friends behind him. The carnival was HUGE! There was a gigantic Ferris wheel that touched the top of the highest clouds. There were to many mini games to even count.
"Ooh! Let's go to that one first!" Hazel pointed to a roller coaster with a very long line. Percy could easily tell it was the most fun roller coaster in the whole carnival just because of the wait. Then he looked at the coaster.
And let me tell you something. He was NOT going on that ride.
Percy tried everything to get everyone to not go on the roller coaster. "Hey, why don't we go get some... Cotton candy! Yeah! That sound good!"
"Percy, if we ate first, we would probably end up throwing up," Annabeth pointed out.
"Um, what about some mini games? We could win some prizes?" Percy tried and tried again.
"And if we play games first, whatever we win, we would have to carry them around everywhere."
Ugh.
"Hey Percy." Jason began walking beside Percy now, instead of Piper. "Are you scared of the roller coaster?"
"No! Why would I be scared? It's a roller coaster!" Percy exclaimed, but Jason didn't buy it. Not one bit.
"We all know that you're scared Percy. You don't have to hide it. If your scared, just tell us and we don't have to ride the ride." Annabeth started to hold Percy's hand which made him feel more comfortable.
"But, you guys seemed so happy about it and I wouldn't want to ruin the fun for all of you." He set his head down and watched his feet while he walked.
"We came here so we could spend time with each other. If you want to, we can go get some cotton candy?" Annabeth made her special face because she knew I couldn't resist it. "Fine."
Frank led the way to the closest cotton candy shop we could find. Of course, Percy got blue cotton candy while pretty much everyone else got pink other than Hazel. Once we were finished, Piper decided that we could ride the Ferris wheel. When Percy was little, he never liked Ferris wheels, but this is time, he decided to be brave and go with his friends.
Turns out, Percy really enjoyed the Ferris wheel ride. He got to spend time with his friends and laugh about everything. The only part he wasn't so sure about, was being stopped at the very top of the whole ride. That was scary.
"How'd you like it?" Asked Annabeth as she ran up beside me.
"It was good, I guess. What about you?"
"Yeah!"
Piper gave the idea of us going to grab something to eat since we really didn't get to have breakfast because Annabeth woke us up at 4 in the morning and rushed us to get ready. There was a little cafe in the corner of the carnival that Hazel called 'Cute Cafe'.
"Why don't we eat inside here?" Piper pointed to the 'cute little cafe' as Hazel called it. We all agreed and asked one of the waiters for a table for 7. The menu was bigger than Percy thought it would be for a tiny cafe in a carnival.
"I think I'm gonna order some eggs and toast." Annabeth closed her menu and layed it down in front of her and sipped her on water. Considering it was already 11:00 and we woke up at 4, she didn't seem very hungry. Percy decided he was going to get a cheese omelet and some toast to go along with it.
While the group ordered their meals, Percy waited patiently for his turn to order. "Um, I'll get the cheese omelet with some toast on the side, please." Our waitress gently nodded and walked away back to the kitchen, which was very small.
"I can't believe you got the big meal," Frank noted to Hazel as she began to laugh.
"What? Is it illegal to be hungry?" She argued and playfully elbowed Frank in the ribs. "Hey!" He yelled back and punched her in the arm.
"Come on guys," Annabeth said trying to calm them down as they were having a laugh attack while pretending to hurt each other. "You're embarrassing us!"
"Sorry."
After Frank and Hazel redeemed their calmness, our waitress brought out our breakfast. She couldn't bring it out all at once so she brought half in one plate and half in the other. The food looked great.
"Is there anything else that you guys need?" The waitress asked.
"No, thank you," Percy replied.
"Enjoy your breakfast!" She said happily and went to take another table's order.
We began our breakfast and after about 20 minutes we paid for our bill. "This one's on me, guys," Jason offered.
"Jason, you don't have to."
"But maybe I want to," he said and gave the waiter up front the money.
Once we said thank you and began walking to find something else to do, something unexpected happened. It started to rain.
"What? Really?!" Annabeth screamed up to the sky like she was insulting the clouds. Percy put his hand on her shoulder to try and calm her down before she went haywire.
"I had this all planned out for us today. I even checked the weather! It said there was going to be a 0% of rain!"
The people in the carnival began to get out umbrellas and run and hide under things and inside restaurants, and there we stood, getting soaking wet and standing in the middle of the whole place.

ANNABETH'S POV
Since it began to rain and ruined our whole day, Jason said that we could go do something else that was inside instead of out. So, we went skating. There were hardly anybody there so we pretty much had the whole rink to ourselves.
"I personally think this is way better than the carnival," Frank noted. Percy went to go rent us some skates so the rest of us waited at the nearest table. The skating rink was pretty big, considering there was also an arcade in the corner and a huge rink. Hazel kept glancing over to a group of teenage boys who were getting tokens for the arcade.
"Why do you keep staring at them?" Annabeth asked her, snapping her out of her little trance. She looked at me with wide eyes and shrugged.
"I don't know. I'm just bored. I wish it hadn't rained."
"Yeah, me too," Annabeth said. Percy walked back to our table with a handful of skates. He gave each of us our sizes and we all said thank you to him. Once we were all laced up, Percy led us into the rink.
Annabeth pretty much failed at skating. Almost every time she took a step, she fell. Percy helped me every time and finally he asked me, "do you want me to help you?"
"I was afraid you would never ask."
