"Soojung-ah." Sooyeon turns the wheel to the right and lets the car go back onto its course on its own. Every single time she does one of those, I instantly freak out and start scolding my older sister on how to drive. But today, I just sit still and cringe as the wheels swerve right and left.
"Yes?" I cling onto the handle on top of my hand for dear life. Sooyeon regains control of it a second later, beginning to drive smoothly again.
"The headlines on the news today... it's quite surprising to me. Yes, I know that you want to talk, but let me ask something first; do you love both of them?" She asks, now switching lanes. The car in front of us makes a sudden stop, but Sooyeon's reflexes are the best.
"I don't love either of them. It's just... I don't know... it's just that I feel pity for Jin and I'm forcing myself to like him, but Jongin is pushing my feelings away." I groan and lean my head against the cold window. The beautiful city trees that had once look like the blossoms in Japan. However, I still admire the essence of the trees.
Sooyeon pulls her car into our driveway and shifts the gear into park.
"Just be happy and smart about your choices, okay?" She pats my shoulder and kisses me on the cheek. Even though I'm her sister, I get a bit of fluster on my cheeks and kindly push her away.
"Unnie, I'm not a kid an—"
Really? We're right in the middle of our bonding time and someone decided to just call Sooyeon?
"Hello?" Sooyeon answers her phone. The expression on her face doesn't seem so well.
"Oh... is that so? Ah... sure, Miss Gong. Yes, goodbye."
Oh, lovely, it was Jongin's mother.
"Mr. Ji will be picking you up in thirty minutes. Pack a bag to bring to the hospital because you'll be watching Jongin tonight and all of tomorrow."
I literally bonk my head on the compartment in front of me.
//
"Go catch some loooove, Soojung~" Sooyeon hollers and shuts the door. Aish, why is having an older sister always so stressful? I mean, it's really great to have someone you can rely on, but...
"Please put on your seatbelt, Miss Jung." Mr. Ji reminds. The dark brown eyes like of a father's stare at me while I put on my seat belt, and it honestly feels creepy.
He starts backing out of the driveway, almost running into a squirrel in that same time frame. Thank God that thing has ears.
In the beginning, there's an awkward silence between the two of us. It's as if you put to ex's in a car together. However, I later doze off into dreamland a few miles before reaching a new hospital.
The car jerks to a stop and a hand rubs my upper arm. I startle awake and look outside; an average-height silver building with clear windows that reveal the whole room to the world. There's blinds, of course.
"I'm guessing that this is some hospital for rich people." I sigh and pull my jacket up over my head. Knowing there's paparazzi around, I want to disguise myself as a rich woman trying to find her brother.
"Take care, Mr. Ji!" I whisper and get out of the car. Acting as normal as I can, I begin taking average steps but a little fast. The duffel bag I carry with the crease of my arm is so heavy that it causes me to almost fall over.
After an agonizing 18 steps, I walk through the sliding doors with lots of weight off my back. None of the people passing by even bother to look at me, for I blend in with them.
"Let's see..." I pull my phone out of my Chanel purse and unlock my phone. Clicking on my messages, I read the most recent one from Miss Gong:
"Tell me when you reach the hospital? Okay?"
More like a flipping house that has nurses that act just like slaves for money.
"Oh, I almost forgot; Jongin's room in on Floor 4, Room 029."
I shut off my phone and shove it into my purse. Opening a purse with one hand is so complicated, I just realize.
I walk towards the elevators and wait next to a group of people who also need to go up.
"Here goes nothing." I mutter when one of the 4 elevator doors open.
