"Hey Bonnie! Hey Elena!" I screamed to my two best friends.

First day of school I thought. I'm ready to start fresh.

Bonnie had her hair down and straightened and was wearing a blue v-neck and flare jeans. Elena on the other hand was wearing a red blouse along with flare jeans and converse.

I slipped into the back seat of Bonnie's escalade and started adjusting my hair. My blonde hair was in loose curls down to my shoulders and I was wearing a floral dress with a blue cardigan to match my eyes.

"So how was your summer, Caroline?" Elena asked.

I was away for the entire summer with Stefan learning how to control myself. I told everybody I was on a mission trip in Hawaii and I'd be gone the whole summer. Stefan taught me how to feed, control the hunger, and take care of my emotions. He drank vervain to keep me from...hurting him. Vervain is toxic to vampires and keeps me from feeding on him and compelling him.

I replied in a subtle voice, "I had fun. I helped the kids in Hawaii learn about God and went to the beach."

"Ugh your so lucky spending a whole summer in Hawaii!" Bonnie said.

"Yeah, it was so awesome and the beaches were to die for."

I never went to Hawaii, I was in the Appalachians in a cold cabin learning how to drink animal blood....fun.

"So I hear there's this new guy coming today! He's super hot!" Bonnie said.

Me and Elena smiled and said at the same time, "What's his name!"

"Wait how did you hear about him?" I asked.

"He's my neighbor!"

"I heard his name is Klaus."

Elena's face froze. Then she said, "Bonnie be careful. He can be dangerous..."

"Yeah but he's super hot and foreign!" Bonnie shrieked.

"Just don't get to close to him..."

Quickly changed the subject realizing Elena was uncomfortable and asked, "So how's you and Stefan?"

Stefan didn't talk about Elena this summer but they did date for awhile. I figured he was still hurting. But then Stefan's brother starting messing with Elena and she fell in love. She cheated on Stefan with Damon, and before she realized Stefan was the right choice it was too late. He broke up with her.

I replied, "what happened to Stefan? I thought you were still in love with him, Elena?"

"Ummmm that ended this summer when he didn't call me once and anyways he broke up with me....I need to move on. Stefan's not coming back...I missed out on my shot."

"Elena, he was really busy this summer. He didn't have time to call anyone."

And that was the truth, he was helping me 24/7. Well maybe we had some fun. I mean Stefan was my best friend even if I had unresolved feelings for him. We had fun and he made me laugh. It kind of took away the pain, the pain of being a vampire. He made me happy that summer. And I trusted Stefan with my life. He was the only one who knew about my secret.

"How would you know?! You weren't even with him!"

Ugh I'm so stupid!

My face went blank, I was a terrible liar....
