THE FIRE

The rock moved for the first time since I got here. It moved just by an inch, just enough for me to look outside and search for that voice, but there was no one there.

That was when I saw the fire.

I heard people running around and screaming, "Help! Please, stop!!" and I heard children crying, "Mommy! Daddy!".
I needed to do something and I need to get out right now.

I tried hard to push the rock away, but it didn't budge. The screams grew louder and I really needed to do something.

That was when I heard my mother's voice in my head,

"Aletheia, keep the locket safe. Don't let them get their hands on it!"

For a moment, I thought she was there, that she was really there. I need to keep it safe, I need to keep it safe, was all I could think at that moment.

I took the locket and kept it in between two rectangular rocks, so that it was hidden and safe. The rocks were sculpted so precisely that the locket fit perfectly inbetween. It was strange because it felt like it was made for the locket...

But I couldn't think about that now. I needed to get out. I then rushed to the big rock, only to discover that is was not there.

There was smoke everywhere. There was so much smoke that I couldn't breathe. I felt like my lungs was on fire. I couldn't see anything but I could hear gunshots and bombs.

And then there was nothing.

"Is this the girl?"

A man said. He sounded as though he was in his mid thirties.

"Yes. She is. She survived the cave. We are running some tests. Her blood pressure and heart rate are stabilising." a woman said.
Her voice sounded mechanical and almost unreal.

"Does she have the locket on her?" he said.
"We checked sir, but she doesn't seem to have it."
The man muttered something to himself and said, "When will she be awake?".
"In about an hour" she said.

That was the last thing I heard before I blacked out.

I opened my eyes, gasping. My vision was blurred and all I could see was white. I blinked my eyes to see more clearly.
I was in a hospital. I shifted uncomfortably to see that I was on IV lines. There was oxygen mask on my face. I moved my head to see if there was anyone there in the other beds, but saw no one.

"She's awake sir." the woman said. Then a man and a woman appeared in front of me.

"Hello Aletheia, it's so good to see you." he said. "Where am I?" I tried to say, but it came out like a whimper.

"You are in Camp Willmont."
