"Get her!"
I bolted from the scene as fast as I could, not wanting to get in trouble for being nearby. But it was too late to run, they already got to me. I felt a knock at my temple and my vision suddenly started to blur, specs of light flashing from the corners of my eyes. As I bit the concrete, I felt a sting at my lips- I'd bit them rather roughly on the fall down. Then, all was black.
Now all is white, as I waken in the asylum. I was dreaming of the night that I was thrown in this Hell. My cardboard-stiff pillow hurts to sleep on, but it's better than laying my head on the floor. Knock. Knock, knock, knock. 'Come in,' I think, but I know the knocks aren't on my door- they never are. The knocks mean your time is up, they mean you get 'set free.' Anyone who's been here long enough knows that really only means you get sent to the arenas. My turn will never come because I have been forgotten. Only, the nurses bring food to me, still, and to my roommate who hanged herself two months ago. Speak of, there they are- two white trays holding plastic white silverware, a white napkin, white potato soup in a white China dish... Everything is so white here, I assume my blood must have changed to white, as well. Although, I'm not complaining. The only other color in this place is black: black trays are sent to those who will be sent to the arenas. My roommate got one once, before she committed. She actually enjoyed it, though. She wasn't "good enough" on the polls, so she couldn't fight anymore. When she found that out, her sense of purpose flew out of her. I watched her hang herself, and I did nothing. It's upsetting, seeing her go. Maybe I should have been more upset?
The asylum is called Purity, as is it's website. Purity is government-funded, even though they act ignorant about it. "We're trying to stop it," they say, and the people- who actually care- believe them.
