Genetic Abomintations

“Oh Maia you’re so funny” says Titania “I try to be.” I walk into the bright lights of club Shula. My mind is immediately assaulted by bright lights and colors. I have never felt so wonderful. I sit down and order one dilator and let my mind drift into the music. I just need to relax. Work has been so stressful lately that I just want to quit my job. Apparently I was speaking out loud because Titania decides to tell me again that we can’t quit our jobs. We’d probably get sent to the outsiders and I can’t risk that. Jupiter decides to come over and sit down next to us.” Hey babe I didn’t see you there.” Titania giggles as Jupiter kisses her.” Oh you two would you just stop!” I feel like a third wheel here! If I had known Jupiter was going to be here I would’ve left long ago. I can feel my lips quirk to the side as I think of our romantic past. He was always such a jerk and I hate him every day for it. He always insults my profession and mentally abused me over my looks and ideas. I would cry and try to fix what was wrong with me until I realized that Jupiter was the problem. I promptly dropped his sorry ass. If he hurts Titania like he did me he will be in a world of trouble. Titania is so sweet to everyone she knows. Jupiter starts to reach for her….. woah woah woah! No way! We are not doing that in front of public! I just sit there shocked. “Hey Maia, didn’t you have a work quota to fill?” Jupiter sneers as he looks at my  face. I immediately start to form a comeback before I realize what I’ve done. Oh shit! “Maia? Maia? Snap out of it!” I think Jupiter is saying it but my world starts to distort and I wake up nose to nose with my mother.

 “What’s wrong hun? You fainted!” I start to hear my mother’s voice rise. I can tell that she is concealing a volcano of anger. “Mom, calm down.” “ I am calm.” “No you are not calm and everything is fine. You don’t need to know.” NO, Maia! No one gets sick or has disorders anymore. Nothing  like this happens anymore ever I need to know!” “Mom I know.” “ No you obviously don’t Maia because you don’t realize what a big deal this is! The last time any medical assistance for anything was needed was 400 eons ago!” “Mom, I know! Please just don’t speak  of this to anyone.” I beg as I realize I will lose this fight. She stares at me analyzing every part of me with her eyes. “we need to talk.” No mom we don’t I think as I silently grope my back pockets looking for my fob. I find it and click it. All my mom is left with is a blip. Then I’m gone.
