The big promotion

I arrive at my house. I am exhausted. My mother can't question me like that. what I did that day I cant talk about to anyone ever. I am 28 now and my mother can't demand everything of me. I did my time in that jail of a house. whatever I mutter as I shuffle to my "computer". I go through a retinal scan and my screen comes up. I start engineering a new type of crop. this crop should survive by taking the hydrogen particles out of sand in our terrain in the northern region thus utilizing every blah blah blah..... I am so bored. I am usually on greater projects than this. this is child's play. well, at least I fill my quota faster! Just as I predicted I finish fast and decide to go volunteer with the outsiders as part of care of the community project. blip. I arrive there and sign in. I see a woman weeping to herself quietly. I stare at her and wonder how she got here. I know why but in reality I wonder why the government makes it this way. these people don't deserve to be treated this way. I am interrupted when Another volunteer comes over and says "don't bother with someone like her. she chose to not participate in bettering this planet. she wasted her gift" That's harsh i think but I know better than to say it out loud. "I'm Alex by the way" "Oh hi I'm Maia." "I guess I'll see you around!" "ok" he says but i can here the sadness in his voice. "i just have to go sign in." "ok" he says a lot happier this time. I quickly run down the hall and hide behind one of the containment areas. I see an outsider in there and he looks sullen and sad. I decide to pick myself up off the ground and got to the feeding sector. I make a meal and stick it through the tubes. After about an hour of this I'm exhausted. I sign out and I'm out with a blip. I arrive home and my house greats me. "Hello Maia. Your mother left a video message for you woulde you like to hear it?" "House analyze message." I am hoping this message about what happened today "your mother wants to discuss an exciting job promotion with you. Would you like me to play the message?" "yes house." "Hi hun how are you? I have the most exciting news!" I see my mothers face light up "your brother got a job promotion! he is assistant ruler of the western world!" "The assistant commander died yesterday while supervising an atom stabilization!" my mother squeals. Why is she so happy over someones deeeaaathhh.....holy fuck! that is a huge position! he was just the human resource supervisor yesterday! "anyway, the ruler of the western world wants to meet our family at dinner before he is approv..." "house turn off message" I don't want to dress up or meet the ruler of the western world! I flop down on the couch and it falls off the magnetic propulsion. I fall off the couch and hit my head hard. My healthbot immediately comes over but the ceiling is swirling and I pass out.
