Calum checked the surrounding area, a lot had changed in one year, the Christmas displays had gotten more bright and eye catching. He looked back at the house.
The house that had not changed since the last time he'd seen it. The curtains were closed, the snow was untouched minus the driveway, which at this time was vacant. Calum almost considered turning around, maybe the mechanic would let him sleep in the shop if he looked desperate enough.
Michael clearly wasn't home, although Calum didn't know the boy's habits but the lack of truck kind of made it obvious.
Calum considered his options, with a broken car that wouldn't be fixed until two days after Christmas, and no one else to house him on this beloved holiday, Calum had two choices. Spend the next couple of days in a church, despite not being very religious. Or he could ask Michael if he could chill in his house.
Calum decided that the latter was the better option and it would probably annoy the pale boy, which made it even better.
Walking up to the front door, Calum didn't even knock, he turned the knob to find it was locked. He jiggled it for a couple seconds to test the door for weakness, nothing happened.
When Calum got to know Michael last year, he seemed like a pretty laid back guy. He also seemed pretty forgetful, the kind of guy to forget his keys all over the place therefore Calum picked up a small flower pot that sat on the window sill next to the door to find a key taped to the bottom.
Typical.
He unlocked the door with ease, he doubted that Michael would mind if he hung out while he was away.
Calum paused, kicked the small amount of snow from his shoes and decided to maybe notify the lad beforehand that someone was probably in the house. Taking his time, Calum built a miniature snowman and used a straw wrapper for its scarf, with the flower pot upside down he placed the cute little snowman on top. Perfect.
Michael had put a framed Star Wars poster up, Calum believed it wasn't an actually poster because Jar Jar was over top of the words Sith Lord but either than that the decor had not changed, it was rather pleasing to Calum's eyes because his childhood home seemed to be redecorated every few months without fail.
Within a few minutes of sitting on the couch, Calum began fidgeting. He bounced his leg lightly, fingers tracing across the stitches in Michael's leather couch. It seemed odd to do absolutely nothing at this time of year. He needed to change his mood, having become rather gloomy now that he wouldn't be able to spend Christmas at home once again.
With a slight huff, Calum checked the time, it was a quarter to four. Plenty of time before anyone usually got off work although Calum couldn't be too sure because he didn't know Michael's profession.
He guessed maybe an hour, hour and a half tops and then Michael would be home. He wandered into the kitchen without much thought into what he'd be making, the boy would have to check on what Michael had in order to know what to make. He let out a minuscule gasp when he realized Michael had all the right ingredients for what he was craving.
He hoped Michael wouldn't miss some of the ingredients.
