ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 6

Once we arrived at the GCPD, I rushed towards Jim, who was sitting at his desk with his head in his hands.

"Jim?" At the sound of my voice Jim's head snapped up.

"Oh thank god you're ok, Dallas." He said before squishing me into a hug.

"Um, Jim what's going on?" I asked, still
buried into his chest.

"6 inmates from Arkham Asylum escaped this morning." He answered as we pulled away.

"Well, Harvey said one of them liked me?" My face scrunched in confusion.

"Jerome Valeska, he brutally killed his mother months ago. After he admitted killing his mother, he said he saw you at the circus when me and you went when you were eight years old." Jim put his hands in his pockets.

Flashback

Suddenly a weird feeling washed over me, like someone was watching me. I looked up at Jim to see he was paying attention to the food menu.

I innocently look around till I connect eyes with a boy, a ginger hair boy that had freckles covering his entire face. His hazel eyes burn into my baby blue orbs. A small smile appeared on my pink lips, causing his gaze to fall into them. Seeing my smile, his thin lines curved up a bit on his flushed face.

With my other hand I gave him a little wave, making his smile to grow. His hazel eyes sparkled from the circus lights. His little hand exited his pocket and waved back at me. A small blush came to my cheeks, and by his expression, I knew he could see it.

A small tug on my arm brought me back to reality. I looked at Jim to see him tugged me along, moving up with the line. We were soon next in line.

I looked back at the boy, seeing he was glaring at Jim. His gaze finally turned back to me, connecting eyes with me once again. Some of the darkness in his eyes disappeared.

I gave him one last smile before looking away.

"May I help you?" A lady asked us from
behind the door stand.

"Yes, I would like a hot dog with ketchup and mustard. And... Dallas what do you want?" Jim asked me.

"Cotton candy," I smiled at him, making him chuckle.

"Okay, a pink cotton candy." She smiled sweetly before handing me the cotton candy.

"Thank you," I said, taking the cotton candy from her hand.

"You're very welcome, sweet heart." She said before we walked away.

"Hey, Dallas." Jim caught my attention.

"Hm," I answered, with a mouthful of cotton candy. Jim laughed at my adorableness.

"You ready to go see the clowns?" I nodded my head vigorously.
