The next day when I arrived at work I went straight over to my best friend, Louise.

"Hey Lou, guess what?" I asked her. She was fluffing her bright red hair. She stopped and turned to face me.

"Max jumped off a cliff and died?" she asked hopeful. Max was her ex boyfriend, and a total jerk. He cheated on her.

"No, sorry. Not yet." I said, making her laugh.

"What then? Don’t keep me in suspense!" she asked me as I put my apron on. Her green eyes were glowing in anticipation.

"Well, we might be going to see…One Direction!" I told her and she began screaming in my face like a maniac.

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Really?!" she asked, jumping up and down.

"Yes, we are. My mum got me front row seats!" I said and she began screaming again.

"No way! AHHHHH!!" clearly, she was excited. Her excitement made me feel even more excited.

"It is going to be the best day of our lives." I told her before our boss told us both to get to work. So I then walked out into the café and began working. Yes, I was a waitress. Although most of the time I just got mocked for being so fat, but I just tried to ignore all the people that judged me. It was very difficult to ignore them though, when they’re there every day to taunt you and call you names just based on how you look.

My break couldn’t have arrived sooner and I took a seat next to Louise.

"So when is the concert?" she asked me. I thought for a moment before answering.

"July 12th." I told her. She squealed slightly.

"Oh my gosh! That’s like, less than two weeks away!" she exclaimed.

"I know!" I said, grinning ear to ear. I’d loved One Direction since they were formed on the X-Factor.

"We need to go shopping." Louise said, very serious now.

"What? But you know I hate shopping." I told her rolling my eyes.

"Yes, but we’re going to see One Direction. We must look fabulous!" she said posing as if she were a model.

"Ok, ok. But there is no chance you will get me into a dress this time." I told her, folding my arms. She once made me wear a dress to a party and let’s just say, the guests saw a lot more than you see at a Lady Gaga concert.

"Fine. We’ll go on Saturday." She said smiling at the thought of shopping. Typical Louise, I swear that girl loves shopping more than life itself!

"Ok then." I said and we both got back to work, as our break finished. I was having the best day ever so far, I hoped that the happiness would last until the end of the day.

Later that day, I was finishing off my shift at the café when two girls about the same age as me walked in and sat at one of the tables. I was immediately concerned about what they might say to me. Never the less, I walked over to their table ready to take their order, hoping it would be quick and easy.

"What can I get you?" I asked with a smile. One of them snickered at me.

"Um…is there anything left?" the other one asked and they both burst out in laughter. My face turned bright red and my eyes began to sting. But I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of seeing me cry.

"Yes, there is. What would you like?" I asked them again, trying to keep my cool. This happened to me more often than not and I had learned not to take any notice of what people said and to just do my job or my boss would get very angry with me.

"I’ll have a tea, no sugar." One of them said after looking at the menu for a moment or two to decide what she wanted.

"Yeah, I’ll have the same. Don’t want to put any weight on." The second on said and they both began giggling again. Clearly this was a comment aimed at how fat I was. I took no notice of it and I just wrote their order down and walked away from their table. I could feel them staring at me as I walked away and I could hear them laughing at me too. By the time I had reached the kitchen I had broken down into quiet sobs.

"Ella! Are you ok? What happened?" Louise ran over to me straight away and put her arm around me.

"Nothing. Just some girls…" I couldn’t finish my sentence as I was crying too much. I knew I shouldn’t have let them get to me, but I wasn’t a strong person. I was a weak, emotional girl and I couldn’t handle bullies.

"Ells, you need to learn to just ignore them. Do you want me to go and beat them up?" she said showing me her biceps. I laughed because she didn’t really have any and I knew that she wasn’t very strong. She did like to fight though, she once had a massive fight with a girl who used to bully me when we were in school. She lost. We both got detention. But it had been a nice thought.

"No. You’ll only get your butt kicked again." I told her. I then realised that I’d stopped crying and Louise handed me a tissue.

"Here, dry your pretty little face and let’s finish work. You can come round mine and we’ll watch Finding Nemo." She said and I dried my face and nodded. Louise always knew how to cheer me up, she’d been my best friend for 14 years so she knew me pretty well. Finding Nemo was our favourite film when we were kids and we still watched it every now and again because it made us feel like kids again. It was Louise’s go to movie whenever I was really upset and it always managed to make me feel better. Especially when we had some popcorn and chocolate with the movie too, which we always did. What movie is complete without them? My sadness had been turned into excitement for the film and obviously for the concert too which seemed like ages away.
