Alex casually scrolls through her Facebook, not feeling a need to study at the moment as she has all next week to do so. Something at the corner of her screen catches her eye, a notification. She clicks on it, with the small mouse pad on her laptop.
"Aaron Powers has invited you to join the group Anime and Things." Alex read the notification. Not really thinking about it she accepts it, trusting Aaron; who is her closest friend for someone who doesn't have many. Aaron is a member of her coven, Alex's favorite out of the seven witches alongside her. A small chat box comes up at the bottom right of her screen, it's Aaron.
Aaron: Go to the 5th post, a cool argument is going on.
Alex reads, she can only imagine Aaron's laughter, her high pitched, annoying laugh. Something that got annoying real quick. Alex goes to the Anime and Things group, and she was right, after a few seconds of scrolling, she finds the argument. It's about how bad an anime was, one person saying it was perfect, another saying it was shit. Alex smiles, something she doesn't do much anymore.
Many other people have liked the comments, Alex joins, tapping the pad after every swipe after her fingers. Pressing like on every comment, most people have put laughing-crying emoji's there, showing it's funny, it is, but not enough to make Alex laugh.
Alex sees another message pop up, and it's from someone she's never heard of before. The name doesn't sound the slightest bit familiar. It reads Leo, just Leo, no middle or last name or anything. Brooklyn assumes it's someone who gives off Leo horror scopes from the Zodiac sign thing.
Leo: They're really going at it, huh? xD
Not knowing what else she should do, Alex asks who it is.
Alexandra: Who is this? Sorry, name doesn't sound familiar.
Leo: Right, sorry. You just joined the group xD I'm an admin, I should stop them but . . . e.e
Alexandra: LOL nice job 'admin'. Which side are you on ;) Eh, I better get going, ttyl?
Ttyl just came out, Alex doesn't mind talking to this Leo guy.
Leo: I'll tell you who's a dick head and who's not. Who you don't mess with, that kinda stuff later lol. Ttyl.
Alex doesn't think much about it at the time, just sends Sure and closes her laptop, turning her phone on in case this Leo person texted her.
"Alexandra Mae Rain!" She hears her mother shout, she almost groans in annoyance, but yesterdays bruise shut her mouth real quick. "Get down here!"
Alex goes down the stairs in no rush, keeping her phone in her back pocket. Patting it just to be sure it's there, and her parents haven't gotten it like they did one time. "What is this doing out here?" Her mother questions loudly from the kitchen, hearing Alex's feet down the stairs from the creaking. Alex peeks her head in the kitchen from the corner.
There is gallon of milk on the counter, it's half way full. Alex's heart races, remembering not putting it back. That's what Alex's mother would beat her for, she's sure.
"I'm sorry," Alex apologizes, walking towards the milk. Her mother brings a hard smack to her cheek, loud, and it stings, Alex's eyes widen, bringing a hand to her cheek.
"Next time, put it away. You'll be wasting our money." Money is something they didn't have too much of. Alex's parents sold drugs, and she has no clue where she gets them from. Alex over hears their conversations about who is buying, how much it is, things like that. Alex knows that someone puts money in their bank account, one of her fathers friends. Alex still suspects they have more then their willing to share. Her parents have jobs, but can't keep it for very long before one of them stops holding their tongue. This job they've had for maybe three weeks, which is a record.
