Memes POV:

I took a deep relaxing breathe and allowed myself to sink into the old warn out seat of our terminal. Seated directly in front of a big window I looked out and watched crew check the plane’s engine from below and watched as others loaded the passenger’s luggage into a nearby plane. I looked down at my sleeve to see that it was still damp. Lola and I’s parents walked with us through the airport until they weren’t allowed past.

***FLASHBACK TO ABOUT AN HOUR AGO***

Looking around the airport I sway a variety of people. Women and men dressed in business suits, young couples and families. But if you looked closer you’d also see the tears in their eyes, and you would see the couples that share a passionate goodbye kiss. Some say that airports see more sincere kisses than wedding halls.

I continued to walk through the airport with both mine and Lola’s family’s all talking and sharing longing looks. Each soaking up each other’s faces so that we wouldn’t forget. I tried as hard as I could to not let myself cry. Heck! I wouldn’t let anyone cry!

I didn’t want to see any tears because I knew that I would end up crying as well. And I was working for a while, but when we reached a sign that said that only passengers could go beyond this point every single one of us stopped and gazed over at the sign.

This was the point that we all knew had to happen but we would rather it not,. I still hadn’t turned around to face my family, but I knew that they were looking at me. I could feel my eyes beginning to sting, not wanting to cry, I closed my eyes trying to stop the tears, but every time I close my eyes I’d see my family. I could see my eyesight becoming cloudier and cloudier.

So I opened them and now the letters on the sign where blurry and I couldn’t make them out. I knew what this meant; it means that I’m leaving. And I won’t see my family for a long time. I’ve never been away from my family. I took a shaky breathe, and turned around.

Not wanting to look my family in the eyes just yet I found Lola hugging her family a bit away from where we stood.  I could see them all crying and I knew that would be my family in only a bit of time.

Moving a piece of my long dark hair behind my ear, I finally looked up at my family. Beginning with my younger 14 year old sister, who when I looked up at her a tear slipped down her face, that ran along her nose. I gave her a sad smile; I then met eyes with my older sister. I could tell she didn’t want to look me in the eye, because she hated crying.

My sister now 23 left to go finish college and work in Washington a while ago, she and I always were closer. I took in her face and nearly saw myself. People said we looked alike and some have even mistaken us for twins a couple times.

Next I made eye contact with my older brother. He was 28 and the oldest of my siblings. As he got older he never really matured. Sure his body did, but he had a mind of a 12 year old. I asked both him and my older sister to come down to the airport, so that I could see them before I left.

I looked over my sibling’s again and felt a tear run down my cheek. When I looked up at my parents, I didn’t hold back my tears anymore. Neither could my mom, she ran over to me and eloped me in a giant hug crying.

I hugged my mom so tight and she hugged me just the same. I was crying into her shoulder while she was rubbing circles on my back. My mom has one of the greatest hugs. “I’m going to miss you so much mom” I whispered. She hugged me closer if even possible. And then let me go. I felt my mother’s warmth leave me, but then I was in the middle of giant group hug, even  though my family annoys me to death they are my family and I love the nonetheless.
