Chapter 2

Garroth's POV

   I started towards the direction east of where we were earlier. As I walked and scanned the area, I thought of how Zane is feeling right now. It's barely been an hour, so he must've just seen me jump through the portal. I felt two heavy weights drop in my stomach. But why? I'm away from that dimension. I think I know why. It's because of Laurance- He and Aphmau were probably in love. I didn't stand a chance if Aphmau kissed him.

I sighed and kept walking. I froze as I heard leaves being rustled nearby. I slowly drew my sword, even if it was Emmalyn or Kenmur. "Who's there?" I asked, slowly moving towards the sound. It was coming from behind a huge tree.  A short creature with snow white hair crept behind the tree.

"G-Garroth?!" She exclaimed, and I gave her a puzzled look. "Do you... Recognize me at all..?" She asked, and I studied her more. Her ears were pointed and her eyes with twinkling with hope.

"I... I don't. Im very sorry, M'Lady." I replied, making her ears droop.

"I'm Zoey, 15 years older." She told me, and my heart nearly skipped a beat.

"Z-Zoey?" I repeat, and her eyes twinkled with happiness.

"I'm guessing you remember me."

"Of course! You were very important to Phoenix Drop. Very talented with your magicks, also." She blushes and looks at the ground, and kicks a rock away from us. We stand there in silence, making me feel a bit awkward. After a while, I finally say, "We should head that way," I point to the direction I came from. "That's where the others will find us." She nods and we both walk back, side by side in silence.

Once we arrive,  Aphmau is waiting on a stump with Emmalyn, who was babbling to Aphmau about Irene's Dimension and how "amazing" it was to be there. Zoey smiles and rushed over to Aphmau, explaining to her that she was Zoey and all that stuff. Emmalyn waves to me, looking shocked that I'm here.

I guess I'm used to it.

Aphmau stands up and hugs Zoey, then squeals with excitement. Just then, Laurance comes back with Kenmur, and poor Zoey explains everything again. I sit away from all of them, resting my chin in my palm. I rethink everything, the voices in my head, watching the portal close behind me, then seeing Aphmau for the first time in 15 years. I guess.

Someone taps me on my shoulder. I looked up to see Aphmau sitting next to me. "Hey..." She says, and my skin flushes. Every time I see her, my heart almost stops. She's just, so, beautiful. "Something wrong?" She asks me, and I shrug.

"I just... I can't believe it's fifteen years into the future." I reply, sighing. She rests a hand in my shoulder, and looks into my eyes.

"I can't either, and thinking of Levin and Malachi... Wondering if Phoenix Drop is okay... All of this is so confusing." I see her eyes go glassy, and she looks away from me. I notice the others were walking on a gravel path and take a deep breath.

"Aphmau, I know it hurts. It hurts me as well. But we'll get through it, together." I took her hand and she looked back up at me. I smile and she smiled back, and I lean closer to her. My heart is pounding hard beneath my chest.

"G-Garroth... In the Irene Dimension.." She took a breath. "Y-You said you loved me. I-is that true...?" She is blushing a shade of pink, and her eyes are twinkling. I sigh.

"Yes, it is... I could never tell you, not ever. I felt like you never loved me the way I do, so... I thought it was worthless. But ever since I figured out about you and Laurance, I've been wanting to tell you. Even if it's too late." I grab her arms and pull her towards me, and I kiss her. My hands slip towards her back, and it surprises me she doesn't pull back. She touches my waist, making me blush more.

It seems like forever until we finally pull away. She looks into my eyes, her face red and her eyes twinkling. I smile and say, "We should find the others.." She nods and looks at the ground.

"Y-Yeah.. Sure.." She stands up after I do, and she takes my hand. She takes my hand. I pause and look at her, with confusion. She smiled up at me slightly and we walk towards the gravel path and start walking along it.

This makes me think. Does Aphmau love me?
