((Hahaha, it's been a while, hasn't it... Whoops. Sorry guys, I've been absolutely flooded with work and other stress Inge, and I've just been unmotivated to write. But I'm still updating and making this entire plot up as I go along! In other news, I somehow have 3K views and tons of update requests, you guys are the best, so have an absurdly long update that actually explains some plot!))
((P.S. Enjoy my little picture I made right up there ;) I also think it's obvious, but disclaimer- every picture in every other chapter is not by me. But this one is. Makes much more sense once you read it, because I've been hinting everything since chapter 1 muahahahaha... I just realized that looks nothing like Scott. Oh well.))

Jeremy's POV

It was really chaotic, we found the human, b-but then this scary naga came, and for some reason the human wasn't afraid? And then Fritz started arguing about something, and then everyone started arguing, and I don't know what I was thinking, but all this chaos just made my head swarm and I-
"Th-That's because y-you're not really human!" I blurted out.
Everyone got really quiet and stared at me.
"... What are you talking about, Jer?" Mike asked me.
O-Oh gods, well... yeah, I knew this human wasn't really human, I'll explain why later, but for now...
My face heated up in embarrassment as I looked around at everyone. I was about to explain, but then I looked at the human. Aw, he looks so scared, his eyes are practically begging me to not rat him out! Oh, I can't just do this to him!
"Uh, wh-what I meant w-was..." I tried to come up with a good lie on the spot. Not easy for someone like me, lemme tell ya. "I-I mean, e-everyone was yelling a-and throwing accusations l-left and right... I-I just, ah, threw that o-out there, but it makes n-no sense, now that I think about it. H-Haha, I mean, clearly human!" I laughed awkwardly, trying to play my story off.
I got a few weird looks, but I think they bought it! Yay!
Luckily things calmed down a lot after that, and we figured proper introductions would be a good idea. Mike and I introduced ourselves first, then Fritz, then the human and the naga. The human's name is Scott, apparently. I'll call him human for now since I don't know exactly what he is yet... He seems really nice though! The naga, on the other hand... his name is Vincent, a-and he really scares me... b-but I don't think he wants to eat me, at least...
Then at some point, the human came up with some excuse that he needed a drink or something, and went off to the nearby river. Hey, now's my chance! After a minute or so, I went after him, trying not to draw any attention to myself. I noticed Mike was watching me, but at least he didn't follow me or anything!
Once I got through a few bushes, I found the human sitting on the edge of the riverbank, just staring at the water as it flowed downstream. I walked towards him and he looked over his shoulder, smiling a little at me "Oh, uh, hey... Jeremy, right?"
I smiled back "Y-Yeah... Um... Wh-What are you doing here?"
"Eh, I just kinda wanted to get away from that chaos for a while... I guess I can ask you the same thing?"
"Oh, u-uh... n-no real reason i-in particular..." I didn't want to admit I was following him, that'd be really awkward! I sat down next to him, grabbing some nearby long grass and weaving them absentmindedly, maybe I'll find some flowers and make another flower crown?
After a minute or so of awkward silence(awkward for me, at least), the human spoke up "... So, how did you know?"
"Huh?" I looked up at him "Kn-Know what?"
"That I wasn't really human. How'd you know?"
"Oh, w-well..." I looked away, as if that river was more interesting than Scott. "I-I was taught a lot o-of prophecies a-and legends when I was growing up, s-so when I saw you could wield m-magic, I just a-assumed..." I paused, taking a minute to process it "... Wait, I-I was right? Y-You really aren't human?"
"No... Not fully, at least..." He looked around, making sure there was no one else around before pulling his hood down...
I gasped. There were two little wolf-like ears that stuck out of his head. Oh my gods, it was so cute! I squealed, petting his ears "Oh m-my gods, y-you're a werewolf! Th-That's so cute!"
"W-Well, half werewolf, actually..." He replied, fluffing his hair out a bit, getting a nasty case of hood-hair.
I giggled, feeling the fur on his ears before realizing something "B-But wait, I thought werewolves look totally human d-during the day a-and only change a-at night..."
He laughed, I think he enjoyed being petted on the ears or something "Most werewolves, yeah, mine isn't really a natural case..." He leaned back a little, getting comfortable before explaining "Long story short, my dad accidentally pissed off a witch, so she was going to curse him for it... but then realized he had a son. So she cursed me instead, making me half-werewolf. I only fully turn on full moons, but the ears stick no matter when, kinda like a reminder for my father... so no, I'm not human. Fully human, at least. And... maybe that's why I can work magic? Not sure, I'm about as confused as everyone else here!"
I thought about it for a minute, taking in the details... before gasping "W-Wait, I think I m-might know something! I-I know about this one legend a-about this creature that was half-human, h-he could work magic and everything!"
His ears perked up(literally, it was so cute!) "Seriously? What happened?"
"W-Well, I don't remember t-too well, but it something l-like... A creature, n-not fully human, has a strange, m-magical power than anything this forest h-has seen in ages..."
Scott nodded "I'm liking where this is going so far!"
I giggled "W-Well yeah... i-it's said that this creature can save th-this forest from darkness a-and destruction... but, w-well... darkness itself would find this out a-and go after th-this creature..."
His eyes widened "... And if darkness itself catches this creature?"
I got a little quiet "... Th-The forest... and all th-the creatures living there will... w-will perish..."
Scott turned a little pale "... Forget what I said, I don't like that story anymore."
I felt kinda bad for telling him all of that! I probably shouldn't feel bad, but still! "W-Well, it might not be a-about you!" I mean, what do I know? How many half-human creatures are there out there? ... Not many, I hope...
We stayed quiet for a few minutes. He just sat there while I was awkwardly weaving away, occasionally sticking a colorful flower in for cute effect.
Eventually he spoke up again "You sure know a lot about legends and stuff, don't you?"
I didn't look up "Y-Yeah, I guess so... I-I guess someone needs t-to know the legend f-for plot significance..."
"... Plot significance? Haha, you're making this sound like some kind of story!"
"W-Well, if you save a-all of us and our home, m-maybe someone will tell tales o-of us one day, who knows?" That caused both of us to laugh.
"Well, it's nice to know that I might be a magical hero thing, even though I might get killed in the process! Makes me feel important, at least... You're cool too. Nice to know that not everyone here is a total asshole." ((TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE, SCOTTY))
I smiled, but the sound of someone coming caused Scott to pull his good back over his ears, making him look as human as ever.
Mike stepped into the clearing, look at the both of us skeptically "... What are you two doing?"
"W-We're just talking!" ... I mean, it's not a lie!
"Talking about what?"
"Ta-"
"Just talking about this adorable flower crown Jeremy here weaved for you!" Scott interrupted, catching us both off guard.
My face flushed dark red. I-I was just making it, I want making it f-for anyone in particular! But... I guess he needed some excuse... I could try to play along... And Mike would look so cute in a flower crown oh my gods.
"Y-Yeah, I was making this... f-for you..." I mumbled awkwardly before quickly running up to him and placing the weave of grass and wild flowers on his head. Somehow, it fit him perfectly!
Mike stayed quiet for a minute, just staring at the two of us, before he looked away and said "Y-Yeah, whatever, you should probably get back to the group before something happens."
Scott and I nodded, following Mike back to Fritz and Vincent.
... I secretly handed Scott a map I had with me on the way back, making sure no one else saw.
I feel so secret-y and knowledge-ful!
... Knowledge-ful? ... Nevermind, I ruined the moment.
