I shook as I laid on the cold rocks that I was using to sleep on for the night. I had no where else to go. I was alone.
It has been about a week since I ran away. I kind of regret it, but I kind of don't. I mean, I really miss being an Alpha, but I mostly miss my friends and family, like Lonnie. She had always been there for me even though I was a runt. She didn't deserve the way I caused her so much pain by leaving. I truly feel bad.
But, I can't do anything about it. I'm out of the pack, a rogue. They probably wouldn't take me back anyway. I just feel like this is right and isn't right at the same time. "Aghhhh!" I yelled in frustration. This is just so complicated!
I fall to the ground and start to sob. Why did my family have to abandon me? Why didn't my friends be there for me? Why did I run?
I stopped at that last question. Why did I run? Why did I? I had everything. My friends were willing to change for me, but I left them behind. "Just as they did you," an angry voice in my head said to me.
I got up and continued to walk on since it was obvious that I wasn't going to be getting any sleep. I leapt from rock to rock as I started to reach the treeline to another forest.
My stomach growls once again as I reach the forest. I haven't eaten in about three days. There weren't any prey among the rocks since they didn't have any vegetation. But now that I'm back in the forest, I can finally hunt again.

It has been three weeks since I left the Wild Wolf pack, and I have to say that life isn't easy. I have several scratches and bruises that I got after I had accidentally wandered onto another pack's territory and got attacked by a patrol. I really didn't mean to. I just didn't smell their scent markers. But when I went back to their border, I smelled their markers, and they were really strong.
I also haven't been able to concentrate on hunting lately. I haven't eaten in a week and a half. It's like when I left the pack, I lost my focus and skills. Every time I try to hunt, I'm either too loud, or I jump too short to catch my prey.
Finally, I miss being an Alpha. But more importantly, I miss my friends and family, especially Lonnie. She didn't deserve the way I had left her. I was her only daughter. She never fell in love, so she lived solitary with her only friends being Trina and Savannah. She had always taken care of me, runt or not. How could I have left her?
I started to cry as I weakly tried to continue to move through the forest. My legs ached, and my stomach growled from hunger.
I walked mindlessly through the forest when a strange but familiar smell drifted towards me. A low growl sounded behind me. I turned my head slowly around to see a huge, brown grizzly bear with its lips curled back in a vicious snarl.
The bear roared as it stood up onto its hind legs. I jumped onto the bear, latching my teeth onto its leg. It roared again before flinging me into a tree. I yelped in surprise as pain shot up my back. I slowly got back up before charging it again. This time I jumped onto its back, holding onto the scruff of its neck. The bear ran around in circles, trying to throw me off. My claws and fangs were embedded in its brown fur.
I felt a jerk as the bear stopped suddenly. The bear started to lean on his side. "No, no, no, no," I said frantic as the bear fell onto the ground, crushing me. I screamed out as the bear's weight crushed my small, fragile body. The bear got back up and walked a little ways away.
I tried to get back on my feet, but it took a minute. I finally staggered to my feet. I turned to run away, but the bear saw me and started to charge once again. The bear roared as it raised its giant paw into the air before slashing down on my back. "Aaahhhh," I screamed as blood started to soak my fur. I fell to ground as the bear roared again.
The bear must have decided that he had done enough since he started to lumber away, deeper into the woods. I laid there as my blood puddled underneath me. My vision blurred before I blacked out completely.

I woke up with my back aching. I groaned as I tried to sit up. I staggered to my feet before looking around. I was still in the forest, laying on a dried up puddle of blood, my blood.
I turned my head around to look at my back. The slashes from the bear looked deep, but they were already starting to scab over. How did I not die from that? Any other wolf would have probably dyed. I mean, I should have died. But I'm not going to really ponder on that. I'm just going to continue on.
Over the next few days, my wounds were almost healed. I had finally managed to catch two rabbits and a blue jay. So I wasn't as hungry anymore.
But now I'm back to thinking. Tonight's the full moon. If I were back in the pack, I would be planning to go to a howling with Leo. This would be the first howling since I found out about howlings that I wouldn't be going to.
The sun started to set and I found a large outcropping that was very similar to the towers in the howling clearing.
The moon shined brightly in the sky. Right now, my friends would be howling at the moon. I wonder who Leo is howling with tonight.
Several hours later, I heard howl after howl after howl as the pack Lead Alphas started to howl together. The lines of light shot across the sky once again. They all continued on until they converged in an explosion of light.
Just like at any other howling, a blurry image flashed in front of my eyes. The image of the family with the four pups playing changed slightly every time. The pups started to grow up. But tonight, that image didn't show up.
A young white wolf was surrounded by a crowd of other wolves. Those wolves were my friends and my pack. I was the white wolf.
The picture blurred again before showing two packs of wolves converging in war. I stood next to my Alpha with my friends by my side as we prepared to fight.
Finally, a picture of a pure black wolf was leaping towards me with his jaws open wide as he attacked.
I opened my eyes and looked around. I wasn't on the rock tower anymore. I was somewhere in a forest.
"Kate," a voice rang through the dark woods.
"Who's there?" I asked nervously.
"Kate, you must go back to your pack. Danger lurks in the future. You are their savior. Go back. It is your destiny." The voice said again.
Suddenly, I saw wolves fighting all around me. Then, I saw a horrific sight. My friends were attacked and fell to the ground in bloody heaps. "No!" I screamed as I sobbed.
"Go back, Kate." The voice said calmly, but urgently at the same time. "Go back before it's too late."
The wolves around me vanished, and I was swallowed up by darkness.
